I'm looking for a new basher. I have mgt, but all the negative feed back and the untold amounts of searching involved to find hop-ups have kind of drawn me away from it. I was thinking of getting the savage x 4.6, because i can get it from tower hobbies for $389.99 (with super savers). If anybody has any other suggestions in the $400-$500 range, I would like to know your opinions.

revo if u wana race at all or have your own track. t-maxx if u want the best nitro basher out there and e-maxx if u want the best electric 4wd monster/basher out there; both have the best aftermarket support in the bussiness.

So what dont you like about the MGT ? There are not very many "hop ups" needed for it , if youre talking about aluminum parts there are plenty out for it but I wouldnt call them "hop ups" .
The Savage is a great truck also but IMO the LST2 tops them all .
I have seen the LST2 online for 550

For a basher, I would definately either get a Traxxas T-MAXX or a Savage. I don't own either of them, but my neighbor has a T-MAXX and it's been a great truck for him. I don't really know much about the Savages, but I've heard that they're one of the best bashers on the market. I would personally buy a T-MAXX mainly because I'm a Traxxas lover, but I have a REVO and have been loving it ever since I got it.
Hope this helps.:)

Losi, anything in the Losi lineup. Mega Baja, Aftershock, LST, LST2 or Raminator. They are the top of the line. Savages are OK, they are tough, but a PITA to work on due to the cluttered crowded mess of a chassis and the poor brake setup, Oh dont forget to use thread lock on every single metal to metal screw, even with that Ive lost a good 15 screws on both my Savys. With any of the Losi's just break in the mill, and go right out of the box. Maxxes are decent trucks as well. Great starter rigs, but if you decide you want more power then the small blocks can provide, your left dumping even more money into them. The bulkheads and diffs are my main gripe on the Maxx's.

You're on the right path with the Savage if you are looking for a basher.

SAVAGE BASHER

I have owned quite a few savages(not X, but it's probrably just as reliable or better) and T-MAXX's.
The Maxx is a great truck to have fun with, but for hard bashing I prefer the Savages. I have had better luck with them taking on some major abuse and keep on going... and with endless, available big block power options not as easily adapted to a T-MAXX.
Hope this helps.

My 4.6 has been very reliable. Easy to work on compared to the older versions. Traxxas on the other hand never worked for me. My Maxx broke always. My son has an E-Maxx and has broke plenty as well. After I spend $$$ on the upgrades, RPM arms, Titanium dogbones etc. it seems better. As far as jumping, the Maxx can't come close to what the Savage does. BASH A SAVAGE:cool:

Savage is a great bashing truck, stock motor is not too good though. Just make sure either your LHS or yourself stocks plenty of parts. Because if you are bashing you will be breaking, otherwise, you're not doing it right!
