I'm thinking about getting a nitro truck .
I have been looking at the Mega Baja Monster truck.
I have been into R.C. for a few years now but I have never had a nitro
anything before.
I know any truck or car has good points and bad points.
So what I'm asking is that a good truck for me to start running gas with or is there a better one for to begin with.
Besides that I think it looks real cool.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Have you looked into the Traxxas T-MAXX? Traxxas is a great company with great cars. My first nitro was a REVO (2.5) and It has been fun since the beginning. I don't have any experience with the T-MAXX, but my neighbor has one and he loves it. There's a ton of aftermarket support for the T-MAXX for when you're ready to upgrade.
If you break something, just call up Traxxas. They have great customer service.
Hope this helps.:)

I haven't ruled out a Traxxas. I know they have great customer service
becose I have a E-MAXX. I got the first one that came to my town
and shortly after I got it the speedcontrol went bad and they sent me
one really quick.
I am just looking at the Mega Baja right now.
I was looking at the Muggy then I got to looking at the price.
I just know there are a ton of trucks out there and they all got good points and bad points.
My LHS has a bunch of differnt trucks an I'm tryin to get some info.
Thanks for trying to help me.

Get any of the Losi's, the Aftershock, Mega Baja or the Raminator, you wont be disapointed! I have a LST2, AFtershock and a Mega Baja and they are all tough as nails and I have sinced touched either of my Savages(soon to be on the chopping block)

Yeah Losi trucks are good trucks but out of the box, they are not that great...with the exception of the LST2 IMO. The Savage X 4.6 RTR (2007 version RTR Version) is a better truck out of the box than any of the LST1 platforms that they are peddling now.
I felt better once I was able to njoy the trucks before I decided to upgrade something. Not so with the LST1 platforms I used to run.
Alot of people just hate the Savage but alot of folks hate the Patriots as well. A dynasty just isnt a dynasty without a little hatorade.......

i think your best bet is either the t-maxx or the mega baja. i would go with the t-maxx. it may be a lil more pricey but its deffintaly worth the extra $50 or something because you'll be sure to never bo on a shortage of parts for as long as you have the truck. now if money wasnt an issue, the savage or the revo would be the best bet for sure. i hope this gives a lil more insight! good luck with the decision!

The Savage is cheaper than the T-Maxx and the Mega Baja is just cheap...That Mach 26ss engine will give you fits to keep a tune on and will consistently run hot.....experience speaking here not hearsay.....
The T-Maxx will be easier for a noob to learn on initially at least I felt that is what helped me out alot in the beginning........

Thanks for telling me what you think. I know a few guys that have the Savage.
I dont know which one they have but they love them and I don't think
you could run them fast enough to give them any other brand.
An the same goes with the Traxxas TMAXX Revo Losi LST2 Aftershock,MGT,Mayhem and more that I can't think of right now.
I can tell you really DIG the Savage and thats why I posted on here to get
the good points and bad points of the trucks out there.
Thank You for the INFO
Oh one more thing
I am only a newbe to the NITRO Monster Truck deal other rc stuff cars, trucks Electric stuff like that i know a little bit about.

Thanks for your help also
You got some good points also
My LHS has got a big selection of monster trucks I guess
thats why this is going to be a hard decision. I just about got a groove walked in the floor tryin to see if missed something I'm probably gonna get a
massive headache before I can make a choice.
Thats why I posted on here I sort of need to get it right the first time.
Thank agine for your help :)

IF you are going to go with a traxxas truck T Maxx or the Revo are you best options in my book.
There are plenty of hop ups and gadgets for them both
and I like shiny things lol

Very good taste ! I run with a guy who drives a lst2 and he puts some of the fastest track times down and he doesnt even have alot of hop-ups at all. He even runs the stock motor.
cruiser, i myself just purchased a mega baja. i am waiting for its arrival! it will be my third nitro vehicle,as i allready have a nitro evader, and awarhead.in my limited experience i have found most trucks have there issues.some more than others.read your manual and follow the directions.take your time with the break in[this can be very monotonous and boring].but will be very beneficial in the long run.local hobbie shop will be glad to help and answer any ?s you might have.also you have several different forums that have lots of tips and help. thanks norm

I have the original T-Maxx, and it hasn't failed me one bit. No matter how many times I run it into something it still works just as good as when I first took it out of the box. they are also not as expensive as some mt's out there. I would definitly recomend the T-Maxx espesialy since it gets so much support from different companies like rbinnovations and other custom stores.

The best thing to do is go to your lhs and check to see what he has for parts because if you break something you don't want to be waiting for ever on parts. My closest hobby shop is two hours away and he has limited stock, hpi and traxxas so went with the tmaxx because it is easier to work on he they have loads of parts hopups too.

I went with the LST2 and i love it so for.
My LHS is very well stocked in most all brands so parts and hopup wont be a prb.
thanks for all the advice

Hey guys I need some more help.
I have been working on my LST2 and have a few upgrades/hopups
RPM Arms
forward only conv.
23mm hubs
lunsford turnbuckels and hinge pins
sway bars
I am thinking of putting carb. and pipe on it like the Dynamite DPS21 DYNP5316
I dont have a clue about witch pipe that would be the best.
And are the Hi-per. Losi skid plates lighter than stock.
What I am asking is are these good ideas or is there something better.
I am trying to make it quicker/faster and maybe some lighter.
You guys helped me pick my truck.
I just need some help making it better.
Thanks
Cruiser

The LST2 is King. I wouldn't touch a T-Maxx, they break much too easily. Just look at all the trucks beside one-another, and you will easily see that the LST2 stands out.

Hey guys, I am as green as grass to this rc craze. I work with a couple of guys. They run MGT's and the Savage. They have an older MGT and the 8.0. Not sure of the model of their Savages.
So naturally they have slightly biased opinion, they love their MGT's, especially the 8.0. The one guys loves his Savage, except that now it has become next to impossible to start.
So I guess what I am asking is what is a good nitro truck to get me going, isn't going to bust all the time and give me lots of :D:D
Thanks in advance.

I own a hopped up MGT ( see: http://rcdriver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1751 , it's the one with the 5-spoke rims, and beadlocks in the pics)
And I LOVED it...but it's just collected dust ever since I bought my LST2 ( 2 years ), the MGT is great, but the LST2 does everything that my hopped up MGT did, but does it out of the box, and does it MUCH better. The LST2 can go from bashing to racing with just a tire change, that's it. I'm not a brand-loyal RCer, I buy what I think is better ( design-wise, and durability-wise ), and what I can drive faster. THE LST2 WILL NOT DISAPPOINT YOU:D
