My first piece of advice is to take your time and break in the motor correctly. Traxxas usually sends a DVD in the box to show just how it's done. After that, just watch out for those trees and curbs. don't run into your girl either!!

This is a fast truck..possibly the fastest out of the box. However, it isnt as durable as some others out there. The suspension is too soft for bashing...I upgraded the shocks to Traxxas BB shocks first and Trinity 50wt shock oil. I also upgraded to Integy Springs. THEN the truck had a rock solid suspension.
I blew off a talon so I upgraded to something from Pro-line. I also upgraded my throttle servo. My stock carb stripped the idle screw when adjusting the idle the first time so I upgraded to a new one...your choice on that.
I upgraded the radio to the 3PM. tower has a few in the Scratch and dent section on the website for like $80.00 I also upgraded the throttle servo to the 2055 traxxas servo.
As far as the TRX 3.3, I could not keep a tune on it to save my life. I took it to the LHS to some good guys I trusted and they got something going for me once but it consistently overheated. I am talking 290-325 always no matter the weather or conditions. I upgrade to the Traxxas blue tuned pipe but stripped it all and then went back to stock. I then sold it in search of a better truck out of the box and I found it....
I still like this truck as it was good for a minute at least but I got tired of chasing a tune ALL of the time and never getting to enjoy it...
Good luck to you though....

I haven't purchased it yet. I am new to nitro, and definitly don't want hassle. i'm not afraid to put it to the test, but i want it to be able to take it. I would definitly want a fast motor, with quality. so i'm open to any suggestions on a rtr monster truck. thanks for the advice.

If your not sure on nitro give the electrics a chance. The emaxx and e-savage are just as albiet not usually as fast as nitro. No break-in and when your done with it there is no after run oils. Charge the batteries and throw it on a shelf till your ready to use it. Also the new emaxx is water resistant so if your in a cooler climate that has alot of rain or snow you may want to lean in that direction. Since you are new to the forums check out the web maxx they are giving away this month. You may end up with the nitro of your dreams and save your girl some cash. Whatever decision you make your the purchaser makes for you, you will not be dissapointed. Happy Bashing.
