I was wondering if putting 3 in 1 oil on an electri motor damage it. I was out running the other night and got dirt inthe motor, can't get it apart to clean it so I was wondering if a lil lube would help or hurt.

I wouldn't suggest it. Oils will gum up the commutator and ruin your motor. Get yourself some motor spray and clean it out, then put a small drop of oil on the bushings at each end of the can being careful not to oil it too much.

3 in 1 is actually proven to be the best oil/spray for a motor...just give it a quick spray on the brushes and bearings then let it totally dry out before running again

I would say motor cleaner would be best. 3 in 1 on brushes & comm. sounds bad to me. Bushings & bearings yes.

If you're out of motor cleaner spray, You can always do the dunk trick.

Dip the motor in a cup of water, run it on a low voltage battery, like a 9 volt, for a minute. The water will turn blackish from all the dirt. Then just let it dry, re-lube the shaft ends with 3-in-1 or motor lube, and reinstall.
