What happens when you pull the throttle while it's surging?

the surging some times stops and and some times it just comes right back but if i just drive it it stop and runs fine.

The surging is caused by the internal clutch in the tranny.....biggest problem with the T-maxx.....Try turning the idel screw down a hair till it doesn't surge. You may be able to do this with the trim on the transmitter as well.

+1, sounds like the idle is high. You could have a lean condition form an air leak, or lwo needle setting, but I'd look at idle speed first on a TMaxx.

Does you truck seem like its jumping in and out of gear? Not sure if you have ever taken a T's tranny apart before, but it has a centrifugal clutch inside(three accually) and it works very simular to a clutch bell on the motor, if you idle is at just the right spot it will engage and disengage this clutch, making the truck surge or jump. If you back the idle down a hair, this should stop, but it may also be too low of an idle to keep the motor going. Now you can ajust the clutch, but its best to try the idle first. You should find instructions on how to ajust both in your manual. if not you can find these instructions on the Traxxas web site. http://www.traxxas.com/support/index.htm
