Hi,

I thought it would be a nice place to ask a question since a lot of people in here have experience with rc truck.:)

I'm about to buy a new truck, well my first nitro truck. I decided that it will be HPI Savage. Now there is only one thing to be decided. Should I go with the Savage X or Savage X SS???

My experience with rc in general is that I bought a tamiya TT-01 last year and started to drift with it. I still love to drift but I would like to try somethig new now.

I know that the Savage X is ready to run with the radio. I have a 2PL which is a 2 channel radio. I was wondering if I should go with the XSS and buy a new receiver and crystal??? Plus do I need a third channel to install a reverse module on both kit???

If not, I will buy the XSS instead of the X. I dont have problem with building the kit. My only concern will be when I will install the engine and the break-in that I have to do before running the truck.

Any advice??? If you think I should stick with the RTR Savage X let me know. Money is not the problem here. I just want to know if it is realistic to get a kit and get involved with the building process or it would be wise to just buy the RTR and when I get the experience, buy a kit???

Thanks for sharing your experience with me!!!:D

I would have to think that you would be happier with the SS. Building a kit is very rewarding and you learn alot about your RC.

I agree with Greg, as building a kit will help you understand the truck better.
Also with any nitro car or truck you will have to break in the engine, so even though it says its RTR it's really not RTR.

Yup,

go with a kit. Nothing can even come close to the feeling of driving something YOU built, and the knowledge you gain will be instrumental in the future of your rc life. Besides, we will help ya every step of the way if needed!
