Think the snow one's sweet? Check out the dual VXL-Maxx vid, just click on the New E-Maxx pic and once it loads the vids, scroll down until you find the E-Maxx V-Twin concept. Like RCD said in their mag, it's still in the prototype stage, but this vid makes me hopeful.
If you're that desperate, you can get a E-Maxx and buy two Velineon systems seperately..........DON'T FORGET LIPO'S IF YOU WANT TO KILL NITRO'S!!!

PS- just something funny 'bout the movie. The music is sweet heavy metal that suits the trucks actions. It also has a KILLER paint job.:D

Just got my E-Maxx yesterday.Just in time too,it rained for a few hours and caused some flooding in the street. This gave me a chance to have some fun making rooster tails. The E-Maxx didn't complain one bit,it ran great. I can't wait to get up North with it and try it in the snow. I just hope my Rustler doesn't get jelious. I only have one question, can I use my hump pack "Venom" 7-cell's if I modify the battery hold down straps ? This would save me money on buying more batteries.

I finaly got a reason to buy some aluminum parts for my E-Maxx. I broke the rear shock tower jumping a pile if rocks. Sofar I've had it submerged in a lake, a big mud puddle and snow. My E-Maxx is still running as good as the day I took it out of the box. I was actualy glad I broke something, now I'll have to go shopping at the Hobby Store. " Yeah" !!! I like shopping at the Hobby Store. Lets see, what bills can I put on the back burner...

I was wondering if anyone has rebuilt or replaced the "brushed" motors on they're Emaxx ? I have the 16.8 v Emaxx and am thinking of upgrading to the "brushless VXL" motors. Are they water-resistant also ? Will they give me more runtime from my batteries ?

johndeerekid
04-08-2008, 09:03 AM
well heres one of my new vids- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb-iTeKIUC0 . hope yu like it. and to anwser your question you have to get the vxl esc and motor combo. you cant just hook the vxl motors up to the stock esc. and no vxl aint waterproof. -Wes

Well, heck with that. That totaly defeats the purpose of the Emaxx. My Emaxx is submerged in mud puddles more than on dry land. By the way I named my Emaxx " Mud-E-Maxx". Trucks aint supposed to be pretty, they're supposed to be Muddy.

Hey JohnDeereKid. Have you been having any trouble with your shocktowers breaking ? I've gone thru two rear shocktowers myself. And that was from doing small jumps. I was wondering if it's from stiffening my rear shocks by adding the large spacers???

That could help with some dampening, but think about it this way too. If you stiffen the shocks, it puts more load onto what they are attatched too instead. Might do the opposite effect you want.

But then again you dont want them to soft, because if it bottoms out that can easily break bulkheads.

well maybe some of us like to race our trucks and flooding ur truck with mud doesnt really help your truck, all it does is hurt it:).

and rich64. nope i havent had any troubles with my shock towers. but if they are too stiff then thats y there breaking. because thats pretty much what a shock is for. a shock takes all the sterrs and hard hits but when u make the shocks really stiff, they no longer absorb the stress or hits they jut send it straight to the shock tower and then it breaks. try getting an rpm shock tower its awsome:D -Wes

Rich64

I went ahead and got the "RPM" shock towers, bulk heads and skid plates. After installing these parts,I took the Mud-E-Maxx to my track and did some jumping and mud bogging. Everything went good no broken parts, the shock towers held up fine.
Then I went home and completely tore down my truck. I found sand in the rear differential. This was because someone at Traxxas forgot to install a bearing for the pinion gear at the front of the diff. Luckly I had a spare. After cleaning and lubricating the gear boxes.I had trouble running my truck. It ran slow.So I went thru the electrical system and found one of the motors wasn't turning. It was because a brush wasn't making contact with the armature. I guess this was caused by letting the motor run hot. I fixed that problem and reinstalled the motor only to find out that someone at Traxxas installed the motor leads backwards. It took me a few minutes to figure out why one motor turned cw and the other ccw.I called Traxxas and they confirmed that this does happen sometimes. I think after this I'll take your advice and not run in the mud anymore. If anyone wants to attempt tearing down their RC truck then I'll suggest that you should buy the long handle allen wrenches with plastic handles. Those little allewn wrenches that are supplied with the truck are a pain to work with. Well, time time go to the track. While I was tearing down the rear end on my MudEMaxx,I thought of a way Traxxas could improve the EMaxx. How about four wheel steering ? That would be different.

Oops, a brush came off of both motors.Oh well,at $22.00 a motor I'll just replace them instead of trying to fix them. At least they're cheaper than brushless motors.

Rich64
05-09-2008, 06:43 PM
I changed out the Titan 550's and installed two "Trinity Monster Maxx" motors. They look and run better than the stock motors. Also they have bigger brushes that can be changed out without tearing the motor apart. My hobby store charged me $49.00 each.

pedeboi364
05-09-2008, 07:40 PM
wow, IMO going that far into brushed motors is a tad off... but that's just me. anyways, hope u like the maxx as those motors are a fair bit faster than the cruddy old titans, and they tend to run cooler

Rich64
05-09-2008, 08:21 PM
I would rather of went brushless, but I didn't have the budget for it this week. I'm actualy thinking of installing two brushless motors  .But,if I'm going to go that far into my pocket I might as well get something Nitro.
Do you know anything about the " timing marks" on these Trinity motors and should I mess with the timing ???

johndeerekid

naw dont bother messing with the timing. it will just screw you up. -Wes

well heres an update on the beast, and its not a good one. i was doin some light bashing an a little bmx track down the street(its made of dirt). i was goin about 25-30mph easy and i hit the ramp got about 2 feet up, landed shocks bottomed out, bounced back up went end over end, then into a cartwheel then the whole back end went flying throught the air and landed about 4 feet away from where the truck stopped cartwheeling and landed. i almost died laughin:D i kinda knew my truck was gunna break because it hasnt broken for about a week and i had some money saved so i figured it would break and pt me truckless and out of money again. but i just had to laugh, bcuz man are those stock traxxas parts a POS!!! so guess what GH bulks here i come:thumbsup. also heres the pics. i busted bot rear bulks and skidplate.-

i went to the track a few weekends ago and it wasnt too bad. i couldnt get the batts to charge past 18V (i usually get it up to 21V) bcuz the owner of the track wanted 5$ so i could use his outlet for an hour so i had to use the car battery and i forgot my clips so i had to use some really small alligator clips and some really small wire and it wasnt big enough to supply the charger with enough energy. it was brutal, but it was fun. -Wes

Looks good. I haven't done much work on my Emaxx since putting on new motors. It still runs like new even with all the abuse I give it. I'm thinking of tearing it down and do some upgrades. I'd like to beef up the suspension to keep the rear from dropping. I like the body you are using, it looks better with a smaller body than the big Bronco body I'm using. Yep, time for a trip to the hobbystore.

thanks, and yeah i love my body!

okay guys here after such a long long time i am updating the maxx. i was getting really really tired of the stock skids busting and they were really becoming a weak point on my truck.
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley631.jpg

so i decided to try my hand at building some skids. i traced the stock ones out cut the holes and my dad took them into his work and cut them out and got them bent and this is how they turned out.

I put smaller pinion gears in my Max,I'm not looking for speed as much as hill climbing and mud bugging power.I haven't had anything break on it since I did this, just routine tear down and cleaning. The only problem I had was after running it thru some puddles at the Bonneville salt flats,I didn't clean the salt from the motors and they rusted and wouldn't turn.I just used some oil and freed them up,it's working fine now. I think I'll stay away from salt water in the future.

Maxx man
01-23-2009, 11:49 PM
yes never ever run in salt water not only did it rust up your motor but it could rust your hinge pins any other metal parts on it

wich maxx is it the new waterproof one? I assume that since ur running through puddles and mud but I was just wondering...

if you can post some pics man!:D

I wish I could post some pictures. But, I'll need to find a forth grader to teach me how. I aint to computer literate. I haven't done many upgrades, just the Trinity Monster Max motors,RPM shock towers, skid plates, bulkhead supports and HPI tires, wheels and a Jeep Rubicon body painted olive drab. I'm planning on getting aluminum shocks and a light kit.I've had it for more than a year now and it is still as much fun as when I bought it.

I've been having trouble with the trim adjustment on my Maxx.It either wants to keep going foward or reverse when I release the throttle. If it keeps going foward, I turn the trim knob towards reverse slightly. But,then it keeps going in reverse. I can't find a center position where it doesn't move when I release the throttle. I recalibrated the controller and speed control but it still does it. Do you think it's the controller, receiver or speed control ?

Rich64

Well its been a few months since I updated this thread so I figured ill fill ya guys in on whats been going on. I got my 19T pinion from atomic rc and got out today for my 3rd or 4th time with the BL. I would've had it out alot more but my super servo keeps stripping my servo horns. Anyway I got some pretty sweet footage from today and just finished editing it and putting it on the tube- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Afh_NETqCr0&fmt=18 . all I can say is WOW! I didnt expect this much power from a cheap $60 wannabe hacker motor, especially on 14 cells. I was hitting 35mph easy and the torque was insane, I could'nt stop wheelying! And it stayed under 150°F and that was non stop full throttle to no throttle to full throttle. i would reccommend this motor- http://www.bidproduct.com/part/Product_view_BRUSHLESS%20MOTOR_184.html to anyone loooking for a cheap motor for there maxx or e-revo. i plan on also writing a review for this motor so stay tuned.

I'm debating on dumping more cash into my EMAXX or buying a SUMMIT, hummmm??? What to do ????
If I put more money in the EMaxx I'll want to do something to make it worth the expense. I'm thinking of adding another axle to the rear and make it six wheel drive. I am ordering a Proline " RECON " body and a bunch of RPM replacement parts. Also I'm getting new beadlock wheels and paddle tires for the rear . I'm going to look for some heavy duty aluminum shocks and adding an inch or so to the height of it. I 'm also going to add a light kit to it, thats if I can waterproof it.
I know thats alot of money I'm putting into an old EMAXX. But, I guess it's worth it. Plus if I get a Summit, I'll just do the same thing.
Long live MUD-E-MAXX !!!

sweet! very sporty looking!

if you have a controler with adjustable steering epa and rate, you may be able to reduce the through, i was having the same problem with my pede and when i did that my servo horns lasted much longer
