Hey guys. I just signed up here. Five or six years ago I had a traxxas nitro rustler, a duratrax nitro quake (I think that's what it was), and some kyosho stadium truck that I never could get to work. Anyway, they were stolen and that was pretty much it until one of our hobby shops had a huge set-up in our mall. I talked to one of the owners of the hobby shop for awhile, and now I'm pretty much hooked again. The only problem is, I don't actually have a car yet. So, like all newbies, I don't know which one to get. I know it has to be nitro, and it will probably be a stadium truck. I'm kind of on a budget, so it will probably end up being RTR. I was planning on either the duratrax evader st or traxxas nitro rush. I like duratrax because, based on past experience, they seem to be pretty durable. On the other hand, it was really hard to find aftermarket parts for them, especially tires and wheels other than what duratrax specifically makes. That's why I'm considering the traxxas. Lastly, I also really like the Cen Racing MG10-MT/TR, especially since it's 4WD, but they both have composite chassis, and that seems like it would break really easily. Does anyone have experience with either of those? How is aftermarket part availability on those? Thanks a lot for your help.

I would consider a Team Associated RC10GT2. Nice Stadium Truck. I have heard nothing but good things about them. I am going to purchase one also. I had a nitro evader but it turned out to be junk. The parts are easy to find and are fairly inexpensive. (about $290)

Here's the Team Associated Link:

Ok, so I saw the RC10GT2 earlier, didn't think much of it. It looked nice and all, but I thought I remembered them being expensive. Hmmmm, $290? I could probably swing that. So I went and looked at the Associated website. I think I'm sold on it. Didn't get real far looking at it, so... how's the warranty? There's a lot of aftermarket parts, right? Um, yeah, I guess I need to go give my wife a footrub and try to explain why I need borrow the checkbook. Can I figure out a way to convince her that it's for her...?

Let me know when you get yours and how it is for startup, break-in, etc., and thanks for the advice.

another one you may want to check out is the HPI MT2 G3.0. i picked mine up from tower for $330. its a 1/10th stadium truck, with 4wd which makes it easier to control. also hpi is known for making everything very durable and the motor is strong. www.hpiracing.com

Get the GT2. I had one and if you put the RPM arms on it it wil be very tough plus most hobby shops carry hopups and oem parts for it unlike most of the other wanna be stadium trucks out there.

Had tons of luck with the losi xxx-nt2. When you most likely break the stock front suspension arms replace them with the losi carbon insert arms. Not too expensive either at about $350 with an xr2i radio installed as well.

A lot of the problem I'm running into with find parts and why I keep asking about them is because I don't have a local hobby shop. The closest place I know of that sells r/c stuff is about 2 hours away. Kind of a problem. So, everything I need basically has to come from the internet. There was one about 45 miles away, but I drove by there store the other day and it was empty and had a "for lease" sign in the window.

You should have no problems getting parts for the GT2,Losi, and HPI. The Losi and GT2 are both great trucks. You pay a little more for the Losi but it comes with a better radio.
