In the next few months I plan on buying a kit monster but I need some feedback on whether to get a Clod or TXT. Of course my wallet also comes into account on these things so my question is would it be cheaper to buy a Clod and Mod it out so it will perform like a TXT or buy a TXT and keep it original.

What would you plan to do with these trucks? Climbing? Crawling? Racing? If, climbing, a Mod Clod will be better, because a TXT won't be good at it, since there is a shaft in it's center. But the TXT can climb too, not as good as a Mod Clod. If you get a TXT, you don't need to get anything else, since the stock set-up of the truck is good. The stock Clod is not good at doing things as a TXT will do, but if it is Modded, it will perform way better than the TXT. Will you be planning on driving the trucks stock or Modded? If stock, TXT will be a good choice.

depends what you want to do with it - if you are looking to go crawler, the clod is a better performer with the upgrades. But they do not come cheap either. The TXT can be converted much easier, but is pricier from the get go...for bash duty, I think either would work. Personally, i like the TXT better. It's a sweet setup from the start.

Basically it is a bang for your buck comparison this truck will be mostly a basher. I have no need for a crawler (not my cup of tea). I have two 19T motors and a Duratrax 8T ESC that will be used instead of the stock components. The comparison is what would be cheaper a TXT stock (accept the mentioned aftermarket parts) or a clod modded to perform like the TXT in it's stock form. I understand the drive parts are different ,it is a performance issue. Is it possible to buy a clod and mod it out and have the same performance or better for less money than buying a TXT and leaving it stock?

well if you want a basher...i would go with a clodbuster and heres why. there are a ton of aftermarket items to get your clod where you want it. for bashing though...i would get rid of the stock chassis and look into a thundertech ripper or rage chassis, or a crawford chassis. (i run a crawford) but here are other makes like JPS and such. you can get a set of axels off of ebay and then buy the chassis and your good to go!

till you factor in an aftermarket chassis and a new set of shocks, a new body and misc odds and ends, i don't think you are going to get out the door for $140 which is the price difference on Tower.
