View Full Version : I have a little problem
Hi everybody I have a little problem because I want to make my t-maxx 2.5r have rear wheel stearing, and I don't want to spend the to buy a kit that I found in a magazine. Anybody know how I can make it have rear wheel stearing without spending to much money on a kit for it??

Not really. This is a project & will cost almost as much as the kit if not more by attempting to " do it yourself ".

That's what I was afraid of.

if you still have the tq3 radio, you can do it cheap cheap cheap....BUT....you will lose your reverse. Or, you can get a 4 channel radio/reciever and do it that way. I will eventually do it to my e-maxx, but I have not built my chassis yet...(I am going for a 4 steering servo, and keeping my reverse option)...money money money. All you need is a little soldering knowhow(possibly) and another steering servo, and depending on how the chassis is built, ( I do not have a t-maxx, nor have I looked one over for this option), you may need to modify your chassis. I will see if I can find you a link on this and post it here, I do not feel like typing that much, or messing up you stuff. You know what, just bring it over and in a few hours I will have her set up for ya!

rccrawler.com look for mx 3 independant rear steer setup. It is not a tq3 control, but if you like I can discuss further with you on the tq3. Just let me know

I just thought of this, If you can figure out a way to mount the servo, and linkages, you can hook the rear servo up to the front servo using a splitter that is used on the REVO. Then you keep everything all nice and original, and you can steer the front and rear together. If the rear wants to turn the wrong way, just clip the splitter wires, and reverse them. However, you loose the ability to turn all wheels in same direction for sideways driving.
Like I said B-4, I can give you instructions as best as I can remember for converting the TQ3 if you want.

I posted a thing on makeing a e-maxx chassis, and a guy said he put a servo were the bulkhead braces go, and hooked the servo saver directly to the steering links. Just a thought. I will pull my controller apart later tonight and see if I can remember how to do the conversion.

You will have to fab up a mount for the servo so that the output shaft points towards the rear bumper but sits where the diff brace goes. The shaft should be on top. Get a large ofna type servo saver just like what folks use for the front servo and connect it directly to the rear turnbuckles. It's very doable. It took me a coupld of hours to fab up the mounts, but it worked great.
