I started with my TTB rig (scale version of the Ford Twin Traction Beam front end) which wasn't worth nuthin' off road or on (just like the real thing) and added a camper shell I made from sheet styrene. Then I got busy with the weathering, and made way too many interior details. I stopped when I began feeling girly, like I was building a dollhouse on wheels.

I carved the deer out of pink home-insulation foam. The antlers and ears are styrene.

The only thing not scratchbuilt on the exterior is the shoe on the roof. That's from a Wild Willy driver. The moss is from Woodland Scenics.

Inside is paneled with balsa wood. The window screens are speaker mesh from a Tamiya MFC-02 sound /light unit I installed in the Hilux.

Again, it's all scratchbuilt. The blanket came from a Monogram Big Deuce kit, and the stove burners are Tamiya 5x11 plastic bushings.

I had a lot of fun building this thing. Still doesn't drive worth a darn, but now it's got an excuse.

I just don't know what to say... I am floored. That is incredible.

My favorite details-

The rust and weathering on the wagon wheels.
The duct tape for the front window of the camper, as well as the moss.
The 10 point on the hood.

I am a big fan of the interior of the camper too. Wow. Thanks for sharing!

WOW, did I happen to say WOW yet. That is terrific, such talent. I see things like your camper, and think I can do that, but no I can't. You have a talent. WOW

Ok, no one nit picked on it, so I will. Everything is weathered, exzept the truck body. It is still shiney new looking. Love the moss, and the duct tape on the rear glass. Whats with the shoe man, did some one get a little toasty before they left the woods???lol

I think it needs some of those wwiiiiddde ol' school add on camper mirrors tho.:D
That being said, awesome job. I grew up camping and riding dirt bikes/hunting in a rig a LOT like that. BTW building a cool fort on wheels is NOT girly.

too much scale work for me...i really like all the detail you did, and i really like the idea of scale vehicles, but there is nothing like ripping around hard on ur truck not actually trying to break it so you can go to the LHS and hop it up a bit :D
