I'd had enough of the 3.3 TRX - forever tuning, when the Raminator (LST / Aftershock, etc.,) fires up and goes - no problem.
I'd bought a P2 .26 EZ start Revo converted Picco motor last year and finally installed it.
It fired up very easily except that the carb is NOT factory set - I hope not as I had to lean off 3 turns on the low speed just to run very rich FOR BREAK IN (IT WAS ON 6 3/4 out !!)
The high speed was OK.
Picco say 30 minutes break in, but I stuck by the Traxxas run-in procedure - 5 tanks, increasing speed, etc., then as I started going to full throttle - and WOW this thing takes off !! - I started getting fumes from around the engine, then it started running rough, then I found out I needed another plug, then another, then realised, . . . the head was LOOSE !!
Back to the bench, I removed all, gave a good clean up, yet another plug, then fired up - perfect again.
Has anyone had any problems with loose cooling heads with 'off-the-shelf' engines before ?
This was obviously through the vibration caused during break in and speeding up, which loosened further, but was also because the bolts weren't correctly tightened to start with.
Now it's cured, I'm off the see if you really can lift the fronts on a Revo 3.3 - impossible with the TRX 3.3. :D
