I may be getting a 40 size trainer airplane, and I was wondering where you fly these things. Are there rules regarding this? Thanks

Yes there are. The FCC control air frequencys. The air radios reach pretty far and can be a problem for others. You can be held liable for damage to others stuff if your un-aware of your surroundings & have an issue with taking control of anothers equipment. Best bet is to hang with a local club, & fly in a group. In an area designated for R/C flight. Just do some checking locally & find the plane guys for better local info.

I got the hobbico nexstar and if you want to start with a .40, this is what to go with.

Check out the AMA website. When you join an airplane club (and I recommend that you do with the size of the plane you have) you have to also be a member of the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics).
