i have an smaxx and it sounds like u may have to charge ur glow starter or retune it(if u know how,if not go to ur lhs)....i had to get a new engine(3.3 instead of 2.5) because mostly cause i ran it to much and it overheated and totally messed up and cracked inside....you can also try replacing the fuel line with new fuel line with a fuel filter and figure out a way to gethe air bullbe out of the line..clean out ur fuel tank to make sure that no gummed up fuel in the tank from sitting there.....and with the new head u may have to replace those little golden ring shims with new ones and play around with the 3 traxxas ones u get fo different compression fittings.....i took of my head with my 2.5 once and it acted up ever since then with the shims not being right and everything....so i just got that thing port and polished and rebuilt by one of the guys at my lhs.........i hope that something here helps you......

Check your pressure line, make sure you are feeding fuel. Change glow plugs. Check your needles. Check the head and make sure it is sitting flush and even. Make sure you are using the correct glow plug with your new head. Why did you need a new cooling head? The cause of this may have caused a secondary problem. There are a multitude of other reasons why it is stalling out. After sitting for more than a month items can be "gummed" up and not working properly.

Check your glow plug if it is weak it will cause this problem. Also temperature can cause this problem if it is cold my Tmaxx wont run until I let it idle a little bit.Check for air leaks.
