I am thinking of getting into the truggy class. I have heard great things about alot of truggy's. I am currently leaning more toward the Mutilator Pro. So, buck up Y'all, whats the best out there for weekend racing, weeknight bashing. Kits, RTR's lets have it. Make my decision for me.

What's the price range you're looking into? You might want to look at a Jammin' X1X-CRT. It's RTR and even comes with the Big Bore shocks. Part availability is good too.

Price range, Hmmm, well, I have not thought of a price range. Lets say $1.00-$1,100.00. That should give me a good doable price range. When you guys tell me what I need, please tell my why. I hate it when someone says "Get a Blah-Blah, cause I have one and it is the best." I want to know streanths and weaknesses of what the truggy you suggest to me is. So come on truggy world, make my decision for me.

Well I dont have a truggy but I talk to alot of racers every weekend and this is what Ive gathered so far. The top 4 are Losi, Mugen,Jammin, and Kyosho. I just talked to a guy who had a Losi and he said it takes a while to get used to the way it handles and almost all the guys that have losi buggys or truggies will tell you they ware out parts very quickly, but alot of the top racers are running the losi. The Mugen is another popular truggy. It feels more planted but doesnt have as good as steering as the losi. They are known for being VERY tough. The Jammin is also a great choice espeially since they just released an updated version and I think alot of the parts will work on the excisting platform. I havent heard a whole lot on handling or durability about them. The Kyosho is awesome and handles sweet and is quite durable too but they arnt very popular b/c of parts availibilty. You might want to go to the local track and talk with some people and see what some of the racers are running. You will get the right set up alot quicker and learn alot about the truck without having to test every little adjustment yourself.
You really cant go wrong with any of the ones I listed.

I too am looking into getting a truggy, personally I like the hyper st by ofna very durable truck rtr or pro kit a few upgrades are needed for the rtr but with the pro kit its all there and you can get the engine and servos of your choice, most people I know like the ninja engine for truggy parts are readily available in my area also from nitrohouse all the people like the way it handles the only flaw I have heard is the rec battery being out side {flatpack} just my 2 cents worth

Couple of things that I need to know before making an informed decision. Are you looking at a kit or a RTR package. I can definitely help you out with an informed decision.

Most likely RTR because I hate debating on what engine/electronics/radio to get with it. That and I hate to pay that much money for something that does not run from the factory. However, if I do get into racing with the truggy soon, I think a kit would be better suited as they usually have the upgrades I would need already. So, all in all, I am split, 65/35. The track I would be running is a small track with large doubles and triples, very rough rythems, and short aproaches for long jumps, tight turns, you know, typical short track stuff.

Well my suggestions would be the Jammin X1X CR-T as a ready to run. Factory support is unreal, you'll find ton's of aftermarket upgrades for this truck, and it's extremely durable. In addition to all of this, there are many setup sheets available to dial yourself in to any track available. I've driven this truggy but I haven't owned one.
And if you had to pick a KIT, I would suggest the Mugen MBX5T. I believe these kits are top notch in form of factory fit. The drivetrain in the Mugen is unbelievable and super smooth. I've had the priviledge of running a CEN Matrix Arena TR, GS Racing XUT, Ofna Mutilator, and most recently the Hot Bodies Stadium 2 Pro. The Stadium 2 Pro is also a well built machine but I can't vouch for this one since I just started to play with it. Let me know if you have any questions..

Thanx Kevin. I will look into these a little more, and see if either will be a welcome into my stable. I hope so, I need a truggy.

why does no one think that the revo is a truggy??!?!?!?

I have a revo, and it is not a truggy. I do not care how low you put it, or how many wings it has, it is STILL a MT. I run mine a bit lower at the track than I do at home, but that is for stability only as I am top heavy with a roll cage. But try going to the track, and tell them you are going to race a revo in the truggy class.

A Revo is considered a Monster truck simply because it has a 2 speed transmission. Not to say they aren't fun to drive because they are a blast!

I decided to wait a little while on a truggy and focus more on other rc's. I will continue research as I wait though, and get your opinions on truggies I narrow it down to when I get close to buying one. Thanx for y'alls input, I am thankful there are good people out there that like to help out when someone needs it. RC Driver fans ROCK!!!

i am going to get the cen matrix TR arena within the next month or so. I honestly feel as though it is the best RTR truggy package out there right now.decent motor, great handling and a great radio set up. i havent heard any real complaints about it other than there not being many local dealers.

Mutilator is great!!!if you consider a revo a truggy, that's the best hands down

i actually do agree with this guy, the mutilator is a good truggy...but the revo is far from a truggy. it's mt, handsdown, no way around it. but the mutilator is very good, the knuckles on it or a little weak but that fine, they are only like five bucks. and its good to have a small weak spot in a truck instead of wrecking the whole front end. so to start i would say the mutilator, im actually about to get it!

^^^^^^ am i not amazing at helping people pick cars?!?!?!?! lol
A truggy has a 2 deck flat chassis, single speed, center diff, .21-.28 engine, simple design, made to race. Most truggys come as kits. The revo has none of the above.
The revo is know where close to a truggy. Sure (in some cases) it may be able to keep up with a truggy, but its not.

lol, ok sry guys, i get it, a revo isn't a truggy...it's just that there are soooo many of them being run in truggy classes without any kind of problems according to the rules, and their design and looks make me say truggy...

I can see your confusion pede. I was looking at the Mutilator about a year and a half ago. But now they have the Mutilator Pro, and I think it looks and sounds competitive. The guy at my lhs said I would hate it and the knuckles are weak and break from a small impact, but he is a MT guy mostly and in truggies he prefers some other truggy. So he has a bias opinion, and I do not take much stock in what he says. But no one on the track had one or was running one so I could not see how they ran, or had any one there with first hand experience with a Mutilator. But like I said, since then they have came out with the pro version and I think I like it.

If there is a hobby shop at the track or close by,check with them to see what truggy they carry parts for. Then do some research on it,but as far as handling goes,I think they all handle pretty good, some a little better than others.A lott of it comes down to the driver. If you deside to get a rtr and your budget is $1,100 the losi 8-t has the best radio,a pretty fast engine,a good reciever pack, and it would'nt take a wad of money to turn it into a compettative racing machine
