I've recently purchased a "Traxxas Rustler" with a brushless motor. It runs decent with the 6-cell and 7-cell batteries. But,I'm looking for alittle more top-end speed without putting too much strain on the motor or batteries . I was thinking of trying different pinion and spur gear set-ups. I have a 25 tooth or 28 tooth pinion and a 76,83 or 86 tooth spur gear. Has anyone found a good combination for this. Also does anyone know of a manufacturer of aluminum replacement parts for the "Rustler" ? thanks

u probably know this but if u go up in pinion size go down in spur gear size the same teeth....go down in pinion size go up in spur size the same teeth......i cant remember if bigger spur and smaller pinion has better acceleration.or smaller spur and bigger pinion has better acceleration.but what ever has better accelleration the other is more top speed....hope this helps a bit :)

A larger pinion and smaller spur gear will give you more top speed. A smaller pinion and larger spur will give you more bottom end acceleration with less top end. When you're going for more top end speed, keep in mind you're going to put more strain on your electronics. They will tend to get hot while doing this. After 3 or 4 minutes, you may want to check them before they are toast! :)
