I have a nice WELLER soldering gun, and some 60/40 rosin core solder. Now, when I try to solder on my motor leads, they pop off with a decent jolt(crash). Help! Am I using the wrong solder, or do I just suck that bad at soldering????

try "tinning" the motor tabs and the wire ends, and making sure they are clean when you solder them
tinning is pretty simple, all you do is just coat it in solder before joining the two pieces
a properly soldered connection should be pretty dang strong

Clean clean clean... Make sure you clean you connections if possible with a wire brush. Then you have to tin the connection like JeJeAK said. I also have additional flux I use to assist. You can get a tin of flux as Radio Shack.

I do the tinning. I also rough up the surface after cleaning with a small wire brush. I think I may need a different solder

i use 60/40... 60% tin 40% silver, and my solder joints are very strong, the motor tabs break before the solder dose
i think what happened was, one of the times you soldered the motor leads some oil came into contact with the surface intended to solder, and that oil contamination is causing the faulty joints... what i suggest you do is to clean the existing solder off the tabs as best you can(heat it up and wipe it clean, then clean it with denatured alcohol) then cut the existing wire off right above the old solder, so you start with fresh wire and tabs, and try to be as clean as possible... there should be no need for extra flux with 60/40 solder, when you get into plumbing type solder 95/5 and such is when you need a lot of flux
just wondering dose the solder you have come with a acid core or contain flux? you might just have to switch the solder your using
