Hey guys and gals just throwing this out there... How cool would it be if Traxxas would release a line of Mini or Micro Vehicles? I mean like how cool would it be driving a 1/18th scale Revo or T-maxx? Leave me some feedback on what vehicles you would prefer most and if they should be Nitro or Electric. Also why kind of setup you guys or gals think. Engine sizes, BL or not BL, that kind of stuff. Thanks BKLAXKID

A 1/18 electric RTR seems RIGHT up their alley since they appeal to a wide breadth of the RC market. I think they have a huge opportunity in 1/18 that they are not taking advantage up.

Versus the 1/10 electric and nitro offerings they have, I bet that 1/18 provides the best margin for manufacturers. 1/18 is very popular not among just enthusiasts but also manufacturers. There are less parts using less material with relatively high MSRPs = lower bottom line and higher margins.

We all know that a 1/18 mini Maxx would be a cash cow. I am absolutely uncertain why that haven't entered 1/18 yet. It's certainly not a business viability question since the 1/18 market has proven itself.

I can't see Traxxas releasing a 1/18 nitro. They are not a very progressive company when it comes to niche vehicles. They go after the biggest chunk of market they can get.

The mini rc world would be taken over if traxxas released a mini revo!

Mini revo, WOW!!! They could even do a mini revo brushless, how killer would that be? Could you imagine the possibilities with the maxx line? AND OMG, RUSTY'S. 4-TEC-BRUSHLESS 1/18 ANYONE??? Last but not least, how about a smaller scale brushless version on their V's. I would love to have a small boat to play with in the pool, heck, I could even build a course.

mini traxxas products would be like re-doing the whole standard of mini rc!!!!! (lol, losi would get TICKED tho...o well) but they're really not that big on appealing to all aspects of the market like dale suggests....where's the 4wd and 2wd buggies, eh? hahaha, exactly, but we really don't need those from traxxas anyways...i think a mini stampede or mini revo would be easily the coolest things on the ENTIRE RC market if they came out...just my $0.02

yah also a mini E-maxx if one of those came out I'd be at my LHS in two minutes flat to get one :D

Well to start off i would like to thank you guys and/or gals that replied. from what i can tell from your responses it sound like 1/18 th electric is the way to go and i would have to agree... this is not to say a 1/36th scale traxxas wouldn't be fun but 1/18 is more versatile on terrain, where 1/36th is very limited. I have to agree on that they should offer themoffer them with a brushless system on board. i doubt they will do that to start though. Moving on to the reason i started this thread what do you guys/gals think on the vehicles they should do this to. I read a couple calls for REVO, the MAXX family, and 4-tec. i have to say they are all good calls. let me know you choose of vehicle or vehicle the should shrink down.... and just a fyi if you dont agree with just eletric or mini let your voice be heard! just do it politely thats all for know, thanks

No, those are mini LST's, hence the name. They are not 'pretty much' E-maxxes. Mini E-Maxxes would run dual 7.2v/7.4v packs with a mini 14V EVX and 8 shocks with a pillow ball suspension and composite driveshafts. I wouldn't suspect a Mini E-Maxx would look anything like a mini LST.

Then again I really don't agree with much you say anyways.

i would love to see a mini maxx....one thing the mini scene is really missing is a little monster. There are plenty of truggies and buggies, but where are the real trucks?? I'm looking for ground clearance and torque - minis need all they can get for backyard bashing. i have a mini LST as it's the closest thing in my opinon to a monster, but it's not quite 'trucky' enough (or durable, but that's another thread)

how about a mini e-maxx with a 2 speed , 12mm hubs to open up the wheels and tires to tons of options, a single 380 sized motor, and throw in those waterproof electronics so we can get dirty? Capitalize on that Maxx name, add in a few design similarities, and you have a winner in my book.

I wouldn't be suprised to see something like that come along...Traxxas has been known to drop a bomb here and there - the Revo and the Jato are both pretty slick, and the Revo pretty much came out of no where with an amazing re-think in monster trucks. it's not like the T-maxxes and Rustlers were not selling. So who knows whats coming down the pike but we are due for a new model here soon.

almost 1/18 there is the MG and ME line by CEN, and they have some all-out monsters...also, i really see most of the mlst line as monster trucks, and maybe the duratrax mini quake but that's it...

Old school, I usually like what you say, but I have to disagree, 1 380 size motor? Are you nutz? Brushless baby!!!! Lets get this thing haulin' some @$$!!!!! Imagine dropping in a 8000 mah li-po into a 1/18 2 speed e-maxx with a standard size brushless motor......BOMBS AWAY!!!! That thing would be wicked and put the water resistant electronics with 2 servo steering, I would be at my LHS trading them my suburban or something.

Good call - let me clarify... 1 stock....a 380 size mini motor comes with a smaller battery and that would make room for the 2 speed and all the other goodies and leave room for proper monster truck chassis design and ground clearance. The TLT had a full size motor and battery, but had to make a goofy chassis set up to fit it all in. (though i think the chassis could have been designed a bit better...belt drive??)

and it leaves the door open to drop in mini brushless of your choice. :) 1 brushless motor such as the mamba series provides plently of power for the chassis size. I saw a 1/18 RC18T with a competion mamba and 2s batt and was straight up blown away at how fast it was - cannot imagine what a 3s is like....gear it down, jack it up, and get some big tires on there. Bring on the mud!

see, i was thinking this out!

OK, once again I agree with you. Thanx, I hate to disagree with you. BBBUUUTTT, why not get a smaller scale size velineon setup installed factory, that would be sweet. The momba would be ok, but people like me who do not have much money to spare very often look for things like the vxl because it is ready to go already. Just thinking from a poor boys stance here. Are the mambas any better than the velineons?

Point taken! i don't know why i think that way, lol. i guess i like to upgrade.

i don't have a mamba system yet, either 1/10 or 1/18 BUT i'm saving up...Powerwise, they are similar depending on the castle motor you get. I do like the castle link software that allows them to be programmed. i think that's so cool! i'm a tech geek, so hooking my car up to my laptop and dowloading throttle curves and what not seems awesome and wish more systems would work that way. The Velineon does not give you that kind of adjustability - but it's a smooth and powerful system, i really like mine. And cannot beat it for the price - it's one of the cheapest out there right now.

I dont frequent here nearly as much as i should..........

If handling characteristics could be maintained, a 1/18 stampede would be a HOOT!

1/18 rusty? Mini-T. 2WD in this scale doesnt really work, however, i think the Pede' would be okay.

1/18 maxx? You bet! even hotter, the Revo. I think this could open up a new classs of racing even. I run 1/18 indoor, and outdoor with the RC18T, and on our small indoor tracks, stock w/ Lipo is more than enough power already, as i rarely see more than 1/2 bursts. Going BL is just not feasable i think at this time. Its impossible to unleash a BL on a smaller track as it is, without turning things way down.

4-Tec 1/18?? NOW you're on to something!!! Wit the M18 and a very few Micro RS4's running, this would certainly be a great investment for Traxxas.

Can't imagine why no one else has thought of this subject, great thread.

one of my lhs has a small indoor oval, they race brushless 1/10 sedans on it. Granted they do not see much speed, 20- 30 mph in a 25 foot straight, but the competition is fierce.

Well to start off i would like to apoligize for my response time on the subject... i have been kinda busy lately. But more importantly is the ideas you guys/gals have been posting. Everything i hear is music to my ears. 1/18th t-maxx/e-maxx, revo, etc. all sound great but im not quite sure about powerplant. give some ideas about trannies and motor and battery combos.

On another note if only there was a way to have traxxas see this to spur things on in their micro development line... granted they have one
Well thats all for now ill check back soon.
