Was wondering if I could get some input here. I am going to purchase the XT8. I am also going to install an O.S. motor. What is the opinion on the new 21 V-Spec Speed vs. the .28 truggy designed motor. Strictly for racing. Some pros and cons please, if you would. Thanks for the input.

Both motors are sick! My first question is what kind of track are you going to run on? If you need some bottom end grunt, then the .28 is the ticket. If there's alot of straight stuff on the track, the speed motor might be your ticket. Additionally, you might want to think of fuel mileage. You'll last alot longer on a .21 with a full tank then you would with a .28.

All different tracks, I travel around to visit some different tracks. Also will be on the Pro Series Circuit. The fuel mileage, I guess, will depend on the length of the main. If it is a shorter main, then I will probably be pitting twice either way. Which from racing 1/8 scale, seems to be the case most of the time. Your input on the bottom end is what I was getting at. Specifically, will the .21 put out enough low end anyway. Or, to put it another way, does the .28 have more low end that what the vehicle will be able to handle.

I've seen the OS .28 in action and it has great linear power meaning the power band is smooth and controllable and idles like a champ!
I've heard a lot of good and some bad things about the speed motor. The motor is a rocket! But no factory warranty. One thing I've heard and seen is the crank shaft is a bit short on the motor. You'll need that Kyosho 3mm head washer that holds the clutch bell. It's recessed a bit and you'll need it.
Ultimately, if I had to make the choice, I would probably go with the OS .28 XZ motor. Just use the 8mm red carb sleeve that comes with it I believe for better gas mileage. Or use the blue 9mm sleeve to get it running at higher RPMs for longer tracks.

Every now and again, I try to go through most of engines available, and every time I go back to O.S. I just love their engines and to stick with the old phrase: "If its not broke, don't fix it." But Werks engines are good just like the o.s. engine reliability.

While I love the O.S. engines, I have seen alot of truggies using the RB S7 engine. Plenty of on tap power with excellent fuel economy.
I guess alot depends on the truggy you choose. I think the 8ight T and Mugen can get by with a .21 mill better than a heavier truggy.
Of course this is all my personal opinion.:p

I'm sure there are many good engines to put in this truggy, but I have to say I love the way this thing humms. More than enough torque and speed. Can't wait for the racing to begin.
