Hey guys are there any T-Maxx 3.3 owners in here (other than the winner of that sick t-maxx 3.3 that i wanted)???   :D :o

I have T-Maxxes of all kinds. I don't own a 3.3 version, but have 6 still. In many different styles. From all alloy to Whatever ... What you needing info on ?

I used to own this
sold it
yeah. i just want to know how easy they do wheelies.

I would say very well. I have seen some old 2.5r's that did decent. Have not seen a 3.3. Maxx run, but in other vehicles it seems very strong.
yeah my t-maxx 2.5r doesn't do wheelies for me at all even though it is at a stand when i hit the gas really really hard and i don't know why but it doesn't. any ideas why??

I would say it would be the engine tune possibly ? Could be that the engine is getting a bit weak ? Could be heavier parts added ? Slipper set to loose ? There are tons of options, depends if the engine acts like it has the power to pull wheelies. I've seen good ones & bad ones, especially in the 2.5.
It is very tight and i already tuned it. but right now i need a new one way barring is no good.

Looker is right,
Reasons
1. Out of Tune
2. Slipper is Loose
3. Heavy Aftermarket Parts
4. Suspension set-up (if you have soft suspension, the shocks will absorb the acceleration.)
Most of the videos you see of a T-Maxx doing wheelies is either a 3.3 Maxx or has an aftermarket engine. And most that I have seen in person, have the suspension set to make it easier.
i haven't done any thing to my truck at all. I have only used it a few times so it souldn't have anything with that stuff at all.

These engines get stronger as they get broke in well. If yours is still New. It is possible the engine is not producing max power yet. I would still tighten the rear suspension a bit & tighten the slipped just a small amount. This should let you get the front wheels up in the air. Another option is the clutch could be glazed a bit & not engaging well enough without slipping to pull the front wheels. Don't stress it, you'll get there.

i sure as hell hope so. i still have to get a one way barring though because mine is no good.

I have a t-maxx 2.5 and i have gotting mine to do wheelys not everything i want it to do them but every so often. and i have aftermarket parts on it. (hit a dumpster, trees, my leg that one hurt) and i still can pull wheelies some what decent. but yeah you just need to work on it, and i have found out that if you are just sitting on a stand still the maxx wont pull wheelys that well i usely have mine rolling and then get on it and it will pull a wheely.
i will try that (after i get a new one way barring). i hit myself in the leg once and that hurts like hell. but it jumps so well sometimes it will do a wheelie when it lands but they aren't to big i want it to do wheelie's where it drags the back bumper, you know what i mean? my t-maxx is so damn fast and powerful to pull that off though so i dont know why it doesn't.:( :( :D :D

try setting up clutch for a snappier grab, changing clutches, stronger springs, reverse the shoes.

My e-maxx did not like to pull wheelies very well either. I got stiffer springs, added spacers to them to make it VERY stiff, and then I lowered the rear a little to have the weight shifted slightly rearward from the start. It then pulled them well. I since got stouter batteries, and went back almost stock on the suspention, and it pulled them with ease then as well. However, All this wheelie pulling cost me mucho denaros in axles. I bust one every week or two. After the first run they are twisted almost 1/5th of a round. But my truck is around 15-18 pounds too, maybe more, it is a heavy beast. $$$

how the hell would i do that???

I have my front end set lower so that the front has a racing stance so would that have any thing to do with it??
Philderbeast

Weight distribution would be to the front with that stance you talked about. Depending on how low you have it compared to the rear, it could have everything to do with it. Try raising the front, lower the back a little bit, not much, 1 hole should do it, be sure your slipper is not exessivly slipping, and stiffen the rear springs some. If it will not pull the front wheels and drag the rear bumper then, well, look at engine tuning, or perhaps even though your engine is fresh, it may already be worn out. It does happen. You also need to be sure you are getting good tracktion, if you are spinning more than pulling, then you will not get a wheelie either.
do you think if i stiffend the front end that would do the same thing as what you are suggesting i do??

Well to be honest, no. the front shocks would benifit more from softer springs rather than stiffer springs. If it were softened dramatically on the front, were there is very little effect on ride height being at it's fullest, basically front shocks sagging, it may help the wheelies. I am not 100% on this, but in theory it sounds right. what should happen is that even though the front would be sitting lower than the rear with weight on it, at full extention it would be setting higher than the rear, (because you still want to lower the rear 1 hole or so). As the throttle is applyed rapidly, the front end should shoot up to full extention, and with the momentum being applied upwards, it should help to snap the front off the ground. THEORETICALY. I will try it when I get in my new batteries, but my e-maxx will already pull the wheels on slow runns. I cannot wait to see how the new batteries will effect the overall wheelie experiance throughout the range of speed.:D  :D

If you still have the original springs, go with those on front, no shims. On the rear, if possible, get stiffer springs. It does not matter how stiff, even the originals will work. If it has any droop in the rear, shim it up untill there is no droop. The front should sag down some, alot, it does not matter, the rear should not sag at all. As a matter of fact, the rear should not sag very much at all under normal acceleration. Try that, and if that does not work, try re-tuning your engine, or even getting a new engine, break it in as instructed, and after a 8-10 tanks of fuel, it should pull the front wheels with stock springs. My revo, with a 2.5R engine will pull the wheels with enough traction. My 3.3 just installed should tear up the rear bumper if I am not careful. Look at getting the 3.3 or even a bigblock engine somewhere in the future if you want massive wheelies on comand. With stiff springs however, expect to lose most all of your drivability. It will require very slow speeds for turns or manuvers.
okay cool. now do you think that my local hobby shop will have engines that i can put in for my T-Maxx 2.5r or not???:D :D

A good replacement for big power would be like an O.S.18TZ. These make big block kinda power in a direct fit package for you. I have a Fantom .18 that is crazy fast & powerful. Just making a few more suggestions, to try and help out. Most Local shops should have some engine choices for you to research. Get a good engine, Saving can sometime cause you many headaches in the future. I used O.S. as an example, because I tuned mine one time & it's ran great longer than any I've had with the least amount of tinkering with it.

This one was like 240$ several years ago. The matching pipe was like another 50$. As with any good engine, it will cost you a few bucks. Getting wheely power does cost. Once you gain the power to do them. Then you find the weak links of the drive train. Not that they are weak, Just not designed for more than twice the stock power, sometimes even more than that. You can get an O.S..18CVRX for around 100$ & it will be a good replacement for a stock 2.5. I never ran my cvrx is a light enough truck to do wheely's. But it was very reliable & ran very well for the money.

I plan on putting up videos of all my trucks doing what they do best....Giving the ground hell. By the way, there is a reason I installed a wheely bar, It ain't just for looks. I just put some big bore shocks on there, and I used the oil that came with them, so they are a bit on the light side for wheely's, but just for you, I will rebuild and re-install my old shocks, and take off the wheely bar. My poor rpm rear step bumper will be crying from injury.

Also, do we get extra points for doing backflips and such??? Just wondering, cause if so, I need to go get more axles so I can fix my truck after I do a few of them. By the way, that is from the ground, no ramps, just wheelies so hard, it does a few flips in succession.

Yup, no lid landings, tires only. And you have to keep it going for atleast 4-5 backflips, and finish on the wheels. Lid never touching the ground

That should give you a hint benz. And I was doing those kind of flips with stock 550 engines and crap batteries. Think about having loads more torque, and fresh, hot batteries. I should be able to keep those flips going until I run low on juice or break an axle.

Not much factory speed, but that is easy and cheap to remidy. I will be posting a video of Gun Slinger and Wheely King when the snow melts and it warms up a bit. Hopefully in a week or 2. Keep an eye on my thread...Wheely King, are they as good as everyone says???...for a video of that. Also, I may just post it in a new thread somewhere. If so, I will PM you so you can see how well Gun Slinger WHEELIES...L8R
