We our getting ready to redo our local track. We are located in the Northeast and I was wondering what dirt mixes other tracks out there are using. We are trying to eliminate the dust and to keep the dirt from grooving then breaking off in sections. I have heard to use sand or mulch and mix that with the clay dirt. Just curious to see if anyone else may have a solution or if you know the sand or mulch will work. Thanks.

Mix calcium chloride (driveway salt) into the dirt/ clay. This helps create a blue-groove type surface that keeps the dust down.

Sowing salt into the soil. Didn't the Romans do that to the Carthaginians to make the land uninhabitable:D

I've always found this stuff to be impressive. I believe it's about 300 bucks for a 55 gallon drum plus freight. The sales guy is really knowledgeable. His name is Chuck and after applying this topical solution to dirt, they have been able to land aircrafts on this stuff with no dust. Impressive to say the least.

Thanks for the input. We can try the salt, we have plenty of that. Kevin, the sad thing is, i work in construction and we have used that same stuff but for erosion control, never thought of it to keep dust down. Thanks for bringing that up.
