My E-Maxx was running stock motors and cheap crappy batteries. Now I am running Revolver 650's and 4500 mah Ni-MH batteries. I know that the EVX-2 should get a little warmer, but it is getting too hot I think. I believe I need to lower the pinion gear down a few teeth, but I also need to have another run at it as I was running and lost 1 pinion gear. I did not have it tight enough for the new torque I guess. I guess my question is should I go ahead and keep the gear ratio lower? I have 12 tooth all the way up to 24 tooth so gears are not a problem. I also have 4 different spur gears, 2 are a couple teeth larger than stock, 1 is stock and 1 is a few teeth smaller than stock. By the way, in case you have seen or heard of or just want to upgrade your motor(s), These Kershaw Designs 650 motors from E-Bay are ridiculously torquey, I would suggest them to everyone. I am drooling every-time I squeeze on that trigger.

I took it outside for some high speed runs and figured out that it is a little cooler with the wind hitting it. But it was 30 degrees outside too. I think I need to gear it down alot. Also, I cannot keep the wheelie bar together more than a couple of minutes. This thing has a load of torque now and with the factory style big bore shocks, it rolls easily. I need to thicken the oil up to 50 weight and 2 hole piston I think to compensate for the added weight of the new batteries and engines. I am now sitting at 21 pounds with all my tires and aluminum and hop ups I installed. Now if I build my new chassis, that number should climb to 22-23 pounds. But man is she fast. I am running stock gears and she is hitting speeds of around 30-32 mph. I think my revo may have a little competition.

You might try a fan on the ESC it maybe getting warm just from the little extra current that the motors are drawing. One way to do for cheap is go to a radio shack or something like that and get a PC Fan that drawing around 33 to 45 milliamps, some dollar store's sell good but cheap cordless phone Battery packs and make a 5 cell pack to power it with and let it blow on the ESC.

yeah. just get a fan for it from radioshack or novak and that should solve your problem. -Wes
