great story tina...lol, i have an aunt named tina and she works at a body shop (COE/manager of a family owned business :D ) im glad that we can provide the right information for you and your little girl. I would suggest getting her an rc18t if this is her first car. if you have to go nitro, out should get the revo or t-maxx or stampede if you need something a tad smaller. For the T-maxx and revo, you can put in an older .15 pro engine to make it slower, unfortunately for the stampede though, that is the stock engine which propels the pede for acces of 45-50 mph...hope that helps lol

The RC18 is a great car for anyone to start with. However she did not say how young or old her daughter was. Age and ability play big roles in what you should consider as a first car. I know some 16 or 17 year olds that I would be nervous just putting a 1/18 car in their control. And I have seen a 9-yr old drive and jump a nitro monster truck better than guys twice his age with more experience.

Hey Tina
Glade we can be of help to you and your 16 Yr old daughter(just for those that missed it) with you R/Cing experiance.....I might just have to get me a Bud boat...
Hows the hunt for a truck going? The 18t's are alright, but I think something in nitro and a little bigger would be more her style(daughters) maybe even a GT2, something 4 wheel drive with a small block engine. .15-.18...they are fast enough and yet easy to handle and maintain.
My track is still open and with all this snow, it just keeps getting better....So stop on by........

lol, i didn't see "16 year old daughter" anywhere...???? anyways, it really depends on her experience and interest with the hobby...

FYI, you are all forgetting the new E-Maxx. Water resistant and snow work well together. But if she does have a need for nitro, the best think to do is let her pick out what she likes, depending on parts avalability and skill level. I started back into this sport with E-Maxx, then shortly after, Revo. Speaking of revo, perhaps timtart should invest in the new revo for her Daughter. My daughter turned 3 in January, and she has a new bright dodge ram. She can go forward and backward, but has not quite figured out the steering yet. But she's learning. I also found out her controller has close to the same frequency and I should not turn off my radio on the tc4 b-4 the car gets powered down. It was not a pretty sight seening my tc4 doing over 20 mph in my family room....backwards and turning left.

lol, true, and i don't like my rc18t that much either... lol, here's my new suggestion: E-revo, savage XL, or losi LST2... now that's more like it!!!!

Why not a Traxxas Nitro sport? or a Rustler XL-5??? Both would be great beginners vehicle in their respected classes, both are upgradable, both are durable and yes I have both.

Those 2 trucks are 2wd. But if wanting a 4wd nitro truck the HPI RS4MT would be a good choice.

^^^^ rs4 mt is a pretty good chassis, but if she can handle that, she can handle a revo :D
