Hey guys. I was just over at kershawdesigns.com and saw their vid for the emaxx w/ twin revolver 970's...HOLY ****!!!!!! wow, that's one heck of a speedy brushed motor...so the question is, can i get it to fit into the stampede's motor mount? i know i'll have to drill new holes, but that's ok i can do that...also, can i run it off of my XL-10 ESC or do i need something stronger??? thanks!!

Kershaw designs will answer those ?'s for you. They have good customer service, and are as honest as can be. I do know that the twin 650's are insaine on my maxx, so a 970 on a pede, you will need to hit the looney bin!!!Send me a vid if you do it, I cannot wait to see the results. Keeping it on 2 wheels would be a challenge, not to mention 4 wheels. :D

By the way, pick me up a couple of those DeWalt motors they got while your there, you know, for the insperation and all, lol.

how hard would it be to install in the new E-Maxx

you need the new mount for the new tranny...but otherwise it's like 6 screws to get the motors out (ok, and another 2 for the pinions...) and put the new ones back in...but first learn how to drive an electric!!! im serious....

Dan@kershawdesigns.com

Guessing it is probably opening up in MS outlook or outlook express...

that would be an interesting experiment. a 970? holy moly, if you are using an XL5 tranny, you'd need some fairly significant mods to make it fit it there as it looks like the motor has a much bigger diameter, and the rear tranny is molded almost around the motor. It could be done i would think, and i think a 650 might fit without mods.

650 will fit my rusty, no mods...dangit, now I need one for rusty, thanx alot y'all...

The 650 work very very well, check out my thread in show us what you drive, no mods at all, I need to re-learn to drive my e-maxx, and that traxxas wheely bar, forget it. It buckles...(comes apart) during takeoffs and rollovers with these bad boyz. I broke my new body posts in the first 3 minutes of my first run with these things. Also lost the front 2 body clips in the same crash. I think she got up to around 30 mph b-4 I lose control. YOU MUST NOT RUN HAMMER DOWN ON TAKE OFFS, OR AROUND FULL SPEED....IT ONLY LEADS TO FUN AND EXITEMENT!!! I will be posting a vid soon so keep an eye out.

You need theropy man, get your head checked out...if there was ever such a thing as over kill, this project would be it. I cannot wait for pics and vids. Let me know how it turns out

well, i got his email and he told me that the motor runs best on 14 cells (i'll be running 6-7) and here's the thing: he tells me to take a look at some series of BRUSHED MOTORS!!!! LOL!!!!! (im running a novak 4300ss) so i tell him to get me the measurments and specs anyways, and that since these produce brushless-type speed in an e-maxx on 14 cells, i figure one on 6-7 cells would be almost the same, wouldn't it???? anyways, the motors are like $10 so i think i'll just grab one as long as i get the ESC specs first...

Mind reader...lol, sure!!! Now you are thinking...Man, what bashracerphil79 really needs is the new revo platinum edition. I will get that for him, and send it to him as a suprize. Too bad I know what you are thinking, it is not a suprize anymore, so just send me the truck and I will act suprized

lol, no...i used my minder-reader blocking powers to tell u that...ur actually getting pamela anderson as well as the prototype V-twin revo!!

Philderbeast
03-13-2008, 01:09 AM
No offence to Pamela Anderson, but the revo would give me more pleasure. 1 woman is enough of a headache.

LOL!!!!!!!

03-13-2008, 04:00 PM
lol, i do admit that last comment was a bit... er....uh... well, we get it

Anyways, does anyone know the specs on the revolver 970 or do i just have to find out for myself??

pedeboi364
03-13-2008, 08:01 PM
hhmmmm, this is looking more and more pointless to me... the motor only has 22k peak rpms and doesn't even qualify for the 7.2v range... i guess it really depends on how much raw torque is in this thing and how far i can gear it...

OldSchoolRC
03-13-2008, 11:07 PM
you guys have some serious issues :)

yup, that motor is gonna be a torquer, not a speeder. 7.2 volts would be pretty underpowered for it i would imagine. 11.1 lipo might wake it up though.

Note that it has a 5mm output shaft so it would need special pinions as well.

new HPI buggy?? i saw losi has something new coming this month, some sort of oval racer but i haven't heard a peep about HPI....

pedeboi364
03-13-2008, 11:18 PM
mhm, my uncle is one of the semi-major designers at HPI so he shows me a prototype or two and asks for my opinions on what to change, because his mind is getting old :D

anyways, on the subject of the motor, i was thinking i could gear it wicked high like the VXL's do in order to get up to 60mph (im not looking to go that high, just a tad slower than my 4300ss maybe) but the pinion could be a problem too...anyone know where i can get the specs on the motor??? thnx

If you have the stock xl-5 esc, it will not hold up. My evx2 will not take 18 tooth pinions with the 650's without heating up too hot to touch. Perhaps I need some fans on it or something. I am going to try out my 14 tooth gears again, see how they do on the high speed runs. Hopefully they will not over heat the esc.

pedeboi364
03-14-2008, 04:19 PM
hhmmmm, well im running an XL-10 ESC in my rc18t which i was gonna take out and get a mamba system for it... so maybe that's got the right specs?

Any pictures of the Revolver 970 motor? I would like to see what it looks like.

pedeboi364
03-14-2008, 07:17 PM
go to kershawdesigns.com then "products" scroll down to "brushed motors and speed controls" and scroll down untill you see the pic of a motor labeled "revolver 970" lol

Lol, I don't think I can do anything to fit such a huge motor in a small truck.

jonelzoe
03-14-2008, 09:42 PM
that would be a fast mini

pedeboi364
03-14-2008, 10:44 PM
well, u could weld the rear center dogbone to the motor shaft and have a RWD mlst on a revolver 970... lol, that would be sickeningly fast on 3s li-po... O M G

pedeboi364
03-14-2008, 11:59 PM
ok, 970 is getting a bit far-fetched... now i'm gonna do between a 600 and 750 whatever fits in my XL-10's specs, or just grab an LRP vector 8.5t to runon my BL ESC

pedeboi364
03-15-2008, 11:51 AM
well, goin to the shop today to pick up a steel idler, i'll se what the deal is on Emaxx's and voctor motors...

pedeboi364
03-16-2008, 01:57 PM
o well, im just gonna go with an 8.5 sensored motor...

jonelzoe
03-16-2008, 02:15 PM
anyways the 650s so cheap u can get them anytime you want

pedeboi364
03-17-2008, 06:07 PM
true dat, but i already have an extra esc/motor for my pede and want more speed!!! lol, im getting a whole bunch of parts from my aunt's friend this weekend, so i'll have a lot of spare stuff and probably a few good projects to work on :D :D :D
