Even if they go down in flames to the Pistons, they can still say they beat the defending champs in 4 straight. That's something. I'm just glad to be watching post-season basketball again.

The thing I hate about the SuperBowl is that on any given day any team can win a single game and be champs. That's why I like "series" formats for determining Championships. It is impractical in football and many other sports, though.

I like the chrome on the tribal on this one. Have you already started on my bodies or already purchased the paint? Cause if it's not too late, that tribal looking design I have over the "orange" area (not trying to give anything away till your done) would look good with some chrome. Or maybe some chrome in there to separate the orange and green...I don't know, let you do your thing. Oh and I'm all moved in. So just let me know when their done and I'll send ya the address. Customers usually tell me the general design and colors they want and I take it from there. Sometimes they send me a picture of another job they liked and I do a take-off of the idea without making it a Xerox copy of the design.

Once in a while they say "do your thing" and I get to be creative.

Some jobs shown on here I did for fun/practice and just put them up for sale afterwards.

Big solid blocks of color like that area easy to mask and paint. Assuming you don't need all the logo's and decals painted on there...around the $40 end of the spectrum if it's three colors.

I think it's a tumor. Or a wart.

It came to me that way. I believe he was trying to increase clearance for a linkage with a heat gun, and burned....I should have painted something black there, but he might cut it away.

I went to the colors by dave websight and I saw the mountain dew paint job but instead of the stripes randomly placed can I get it with with streaks coming from the hood to the end getting thinner twords the end? how much for that on a 1/10 scale shell (including shell and shiping)

Cory finished 11th in the buggy semifinals, which had him around 31st overall in the Nationals. A pretty good drive for a local racer up against the best from the West and all the other factory drivers.

The two different types of mat give different results. It's nice to have both if you can find them. The WonderLiner is nice in that it has some wwight to it, and the airbrush doesn't make it lift as easily. And it gives a truer CF-look.

It should work with spray cans, not melt. I sometimes tape it in place, but usually just hold it down with a finger while spraying. If it lifts away from the body, the pattern gets "fuzzy" and blurred. Spray directly at the mat, not on an angle, and the pattern will stay crisp.

Easy for you to say....this body was a major PITA in the layout, getting the top and bottom halves to mirror each other. The bottom tray was easy, but transfering it to the shell was very time consuming. Then keeping track of all the various black versus white areas....and pick and peeling them all. It took much longer than a typical flame job. Way longer.

I have only done "inside" work on lexan so far.

Planes and boats require a non-cutting style of masking (like vinyl).

Heli canopies would be no problem, they just need a final clearcoat after paint.

thats really cool man! i was wondering, have you ever done the carbon fiber effect using tool box liner? if so, how hard is it? thanks

That was done with matting similar to the toolbox drawer liner.
It's not too hard, but on very non-flat bodies, you have to do one section at a time, and that is more difficult.

The details are gonna make this one stand out like the grill work, running lights,the window trim (chrome and black, wow) the farrell and filters on the blower. Looks great Dave, finally got the airbrush. My son and I shot some paint thru it Monday, love it already still has the .35 needle in it. Going to take alot of practice ,hands not that steady yet. Should be fun though. Thanks for the info.

Budhatrain, this body reminds me of why I stopped buying black cars ...... the surface is so smooth and perfect, but shows every fingerprint or speck of dust! I am betting you will not want to drive this body, because it will never look the same after you do!

Gwandson, just keep practicing, and remember that steady hands aren't 100% required if you are slowly applying the paint you want. Slowly build the effect, or shading, or color you want. It never has to be perfect on one pass. YOU CAN DO IT!

I am posting to say how sorry I am that the past few months have been more than I can handle, with work, family matters, and personal business.

Leadtimes for paint has extended far beyond anything I ever imagined due to demands on my time. For this I am truly sorry.

I am seeing the light, but am still far from getting out of the tunnel.

If anyone has concerns about lead time, or wishes to pull back their orders, please contact me.

I regret that this bubble of activity has me overloaded. In the future I will be more aware of the schedules and will strive to avoid lengthy delays.

To those of you who have waited for me to get to your jobs, THANK YOU! Your business is valued, but your patience and understanding is appreciated even more.

Until this current backlog of orders is completed, I will not be taking any new orders. I will continue to quote any work requested, but the pipeline is full until I can take care of my current commitments.

Looks great Dave, working on sc body for my son. Wish my rollbar lines would've turned out that nice. I'm going to try to touch it up but you know how that goes sometimes. Have to try harder on the next one.

If the body shape allows for it, just use masking tape for the rollbar. Automatic straight edges!

It's a carnage sc body with spoiler tried painters tape but either didn't get the edge pushed down good enough or might should have used body mask. It's been 20 years since I painted one so I guess I'll just have to try harder on the other one. Probably should have cut it out first too. Their a pain to cut out and fit well since my dremell tool is burnt up. But I welcome any tips. Thanks
