Ok, I have a XL-5 rusty, and have now went through my 4th speed control. I an very displeased with the XL-5. I have heard the XL-10 is better, but I want something I can depend on, not something that will let me down, AGAIN. Any help/input would be great. Let me know what speed controls you have and how well they work. My last SC quit after just a little tiny dab of snow. Heck, my reciever did not even quit, and hardly anything got under the body. Mostly ice with a little touch of snow on top of the ground

hmm..... i run a strange mix of 2 old Futaba monsters, Novak mini, duster, rooster, and super rooster, 2 XL-10's, 3 tamiya TB's and 1 ...well, i forget but believe it is an LRP for my brushed motors and i have never had a problem with any of them.
i did blow up and old tekin that i got off the bay in a car i bought and that baby went up in flames!! it was beat though, didn't think it was going to make it.
I highly recommend any Novak ESC, my rooster has thermalled i don't know how many times, and twice shut down due to flooding issues and is still running to this day. it's an original from 1994-5 something like that. And they have fantastic customer service as well.

i have used the XL-10 in my stampede and rc18t and it works flawlessly. In the pede it was run with and orion 12t motor and rc18t stock motor... very very good ESC... i have one here for $90

sorry, i have to amend my earlier post - i have 2 xl-5's, not xl-10's and the LRP is actually an airtronics. it was early in the morning, i got confused...
what motor are you running with that XL-5 that they keep blowing up? mine barely even gets warm when running, i haven't had a problem yet.

Stock titan 12 turn. It never gets hot, it just gets either beat up and broken, or a tiny little dab of water in it. It is not a very durable speed control IMO, because it will break the heatsinks off with little effort, and quits with a little moisture.

yup, my XL-5 died so i got a novak system and kept the titan and bought the XL-10 for insurance... only used the XL-10 8 times in my rc18t with stock motor and batt. and the titan is an Emaxx 14.4v motor with about 15 runs on it with the XL-5 and 3600mah 6-cell packs... i got both if u need 'em PM me for pricing
