First thing I would do is find the body you want. Than I would either buy or make a chassis for it and get some new wheels and tires.

Otherwise I would just bash the crap out of it and enjoy until you have the time to get the parts needed to build a trail rig.

an easy and needed mod is mocking the diffs. you can use epoxy or buy lockers for it. CA glue works from what i have been told.

then look for gears like a 96t spur gear and a 18t pinion or 15t pinion taht should give you trail scale truck speed and enough wheel speed to throw some mud!

How much driveability do you lose by locking the diffs. My WK is used as a semi sorta crawler and a MT to bash around indoors and some times outdoors. I know im my e-maxx, I lost alot when it came to turning, and pavement is off limits now. But it will tear up the ground in front of it.

yeah i did find out that my turning hurt alot but i am going make it 4ws so that should help. but i am mostly going do crawling with it and maybe alittle paying in the mud here and there. if i dont like it i can always just buy a new diff

If you go with 4ws than you will regain your steering, I run 4ws on just about all my 2.2's, I can't live without it on the rocks.

I run my maxx locked and yea my wife's unlocked will dust me in the corners, but on rough terrain I have her beat.

So Lock-em up, the WK is meant for offroad use.

Changing the gearing is also a must, that should be the first mod, and really it should have come with the right gearing, HPI really should have done a bit more R&D before they released the WK.
