i need some help - no idea what i am doing wrong here, but it is driving me crazy and i have ruined 2 bodies with this. i went to spray black on last night to back the masking and make it pop a bit and the black paint didn't stick to the body at all. it almost looked like I sprayed oil onto water - it then proceeded to basicially run down the body. it was plain black pactra acrylic paint. i used fascolor acrylic later as the primary color and didn't have this issue at all.

for body prep, i heavily scufffed the inside of the body, then washed with soap and water, let it dry overnight and then washed my hands as much as possible to remove any oils from my hands when doing the masking, then sprayed on the disaster.

Seem to be that particular paint. If i had to guess, i'd say i got oils on the body somehow, though it didn't seem to bother the fascolor at all, just the pactra. Has anyone else had this issue?? i'm totally going to go back to rattle cans soon. thinking airbrushing is not my thing.

Strange...but maybe a bad jar of Pactra?

maybe, it is old but i used the same paint to brush a few detail spots and it seemed fine. you can bet i won't be spraying it again though, that's for sure.

it could have been a small amount of oil in the air brush combined with an old jar of paint, i had that happen on a rc10 body once, i was so mad i could have chewed 20 penny nails

well if u thinks its the oils on your hands when u wash the body wear rubber gloves nad u should try to make sure theres no build up of chemicals and wash your airbrush

i used a brand new bottle and the paint does not flow through the brush, so all i can think of is maybe i should have washed out the bottle first.

WEll, i pulled the mask off and had some severe bleeding.. :(

I cleaned that up as best as possible and sprayed the second color tonight and all was well, till my cat knocked the body over before it dried and left a nose mark on the new paint......i think this paint job was just not meant to be. (but it was funny seeing her with a silver nose.)

Oils and silicones will cause fish-eyes in paint film. Never use oil in your airbrush. Get Iwata's blue SuperLube. Yeah, that's the ticket....Super Lube!

that's for sure, i took the other 3 new paint bottles and old bottles and washed them out thoroughly just to be sure. didn't feel anything oily in the new ones, but who knows.....

it sounds like it was too old or poorly mixed.
