I like it, reminds me of the good ol' days. Tires look a bit funny on it though, kinda old school meets next generation thing, but hey, ought to get good traction. I have had many problems with my xl-5, and looking to upgrade, so let me know how you like the xl-10. I would suggest a rear wing though.

pipi135driver
03-29-2008, 08:18 PM
ya i didnt think the tires were that big when i got them but i wanted something for offroad as well as on.
and my brother lost the wing :(
i still got tons of work to do.
the esc is working fine so far

i was wondering if anyone knows of parts from new cars out there that would fit my rc10.
maybe shocks or other parts.
since finding the parts on ebay isnt that much fun
thanks for any help

so heres an updat eto whats happening to the car
its not much but
i fixed repainted some spots on the body were the paint worn away
and i also repainted the wheel nuts as you can see in the before and after pics
the last pic shows the only problem with the car so far
a striped servo, but its not so bad and works most of the time:D

it seems someone really loved that thing enough that it lasted.it looks like it right out of the box. how many times did you have to clean it to get it to look like that? and all you need to do is get a futaba metal gear servo fro towerhobbies its only $32

ya, my dad did take care of it. but it wasnt used for about 6 years before now. only cleaned it once. but i scratched the towers after these pics but i bought a parts lot that had a practicly new one in it, i needed a part in the lot to complete it. and the servo wont be a problem.

so i have added the new motor i got (challenger 19t)
and took a servo from my dads nitro sport
it runs great :D
but sadly i only got one full battery through it and part of another
while running the second battery i was doing some top speed passes down my hill and probably on the 10th pass i hit the breaks to turn and it clipped the side of the road were there is a ditch and it flew a few feet and landed hard.
this isnt good when your going almost full speed. so the turnbuckle thing poped off and the axle flew out some were never to be found again.
i havent started looking yet but does anyone know of dogbones that are 63mm long?

pipi135driver
06-28-2008, 01:12 AM
:D i can drive my car :D
all i had to do was take an dog bone from an old car that i dont even know what it is and cut it 6mm shorter then weld it together.
so far its working fine. just waiting to bid on dog bones on the bay so i wont have to worry

and i found the other front nut to go with the others

wheres the deans plugs or is speed not an issue?

pipi135driver

wheres the deans plugs or is speed not an issue?

actually i have two new batteries with deans but they were from a misorder ( supposed to be tamiyas) i just kept them, not worth sending them back
and i was going to switch the esc to deans after i got the batts but one battery wouldnt stop charging with the charger i bought with the batts and the seller sent a replacement battery with a tamiya connector so i kept the esc the same and am using an adapter that came with the charger.
and speed is not an issue with my new motor :D
but i guess it would be faster without the adaptor  o well

video hopefully coming soon
and pictures of the new arrangement of the electronics too

pipi135driver
06-30-2008, 11:57 PM
the video is on hold for awhile now
something happened to my esc and now it overheats after only 5-8 minutes and a blinking red light of doom flashes
im gonna send it to traxxas for the lifetime replacement plan and see if they can fix it or replace it.
$20 is better than $60:D

it seems you are running a large pinion gear with lots of teath. Maybe thats the reason that the esc is overheating or whatever its doing.

it seems you are running a large pinion gear with lots of teath. Maybe thats the reason that the esc is overheating or whatever its doing.

maybe, right now the gearing is 16 pinion and 54 spur
but it never got so hot that it did this before
a couple days ago i was driving and all of a sudden it just stopped working and would sizzle if i pressed the on button. so i put it away then the next day it started to work but then the blinking red light thing happens
i guess i will get a 15 tooth pinion gear to keep it cooler

BrennansFund
07-02-2008, 05:39 PM
oh i thought the pinion was larger than that... I doubt going down one tooth will make much of a difference... maybe 5 degrees or so

thats cool but how fast dose it go:confused::):)

i would say that it goes faster than my t-maxx so probably 45-50 maybe more or less. But thats with my 19t motor (i wanted a longer run time for more fun), so imagine a 12 or 10 turn motor :D:eek::D:eek::D

i will get a video once i get the esc fixed which could take a while.
nothing fancy though, just driving up and down my road and my driveway at first
then maybe a vid of its burnouts in dirt
(i dont use moviemaker, so it will probably almost be the full battery minus a couple minutes)

pipi135driver

got new dogbones to replace the welded one
they will be here soon:D

I remember the rc10 that was my first car

you could try using traxxas bandit arms and steering stuff on it and im sure a set of shocks out there would fit, maybe look at some older tamiya tires that might fit. get some losi springs or traxxas front springs, get newer ball ends and caps and of course turnbuckles

everythings working so far so i am not gonna mess with it, but one front shock is stiff so im thinking that i bent it somehow but it still works so ill wait until it breaks to try to get new ones

idk, it seems alot faster then my t-maxx and probably a little faster than my friends (raveger)? maybe its a little high, probably around 45 not 50
it was just a guess, but ill make a vid of some speed runs after i get the esc fixed. hopefully that will be soon.:)

Well U know there are traxxas to timaya conectors. But it be best to just change the battires to traxxas, or change the ESC to deans if the battires are deans.

pipi135driver
09-02-2008, 12:35 AM
i already changed it to a tamiya plug. i know about the connectors but i thought this would be better.

its running great by the way.

i have been really busy.
school just started for me and i have been driving my baja lately.
maybe this weekend, ill charge the batteries and fill my baja up and go over to my school parking lot, but i am not promising anything, cause my bowling season also starts this saturday.

i know deans are much better but i have 1 battery of each kind since they messed up the order. but maybe ill get more batteries with deans and switch permanetly, and get a connector to use my battery with tamiya plug

Updates?? ?

pipi135driver
11-19-2008, 07:05 PM
ya ya i know.
i'll try over the weekend.

but heres what i have done
-took some old tires from my dads(now long gone) subaru brat and i made it so i could put the extra bushings i had in them. works great. justs rubs a little when i turn left or is it right:confused:, idr but its not bad.
also i never posted pics of the new layout, so you could see that.
maybe i will get around to putting my extra spektrum reciever in it.

thats about it.
