ah, the tamiya TL01....not the most glamorous car made, but i have a ton of fun with them. I started out with a baja king kit and used some parts from other kits to change it into a onroad race car, then a rally car. The thing i love about Tamiya is so many parts are interchangable, so you can mix and match all day.
so, i picked up so many replacement and hop-ups along the way that i had to buy a singe driveshaft and i could have two of these chassis in action. So i rebuilt the original baja king...nothing too fancy, just a fun basher that can truly take a beating. I added shocks and wheels from an old TR-15 kit for more suspension travel, ball diffs front and rear and turnbuckles for the steering. Since these cars have some truly beefy gears, they can take brushless power no problem. I would not recommmend using the carbon driveshaft though since it shredded itself on the first run. :) stick to the heavy but dependable steel. Other than that, takes it all in stride!
it's soul brother, the focus rally has the long arm conversion, swaybars, front one-way to help with those powerslides, rear ball diff, lightweight chassis, speed tuned gears, and probably more stuff that i am forgetting. i actually had the one way installed in reverse in the rear diff to give me front wheel drive only, but 4 wheel braking....but i went back to a more traditional set-up.
