Ok, so I have been eyeballing a Mach 5 at Wal-Mart for some time now. I finally picked it up lastnight. I will get pics up as soon as my wife gets home with the camera. It is roughly the same leanth as my 1/10th scale TC-4, but aolt narrower. I will be trying to build this thing into a 1/10th sedan type chassis. I will be trying to use all of the car I can to keep it looking like the mach 5. It will be tough with a recessed cockpit, but I think I may have room for a 540 motor direct drive, rear wheel drive car. If I am lucky, maybe I can make it 4wd. But the diffs will take up alot of valuable room. I may need to go micro electronics on this, and try to use like a hump or even a saddle pack for the batteries. I tough maybe brushless so I could use lipo's. But it would be too fast I think. I will be trying to keep it around the 20mph range or maybe a little less. Hopefully everything will go right the first time on this project and I hope I do not have to scrap it as I already got 20 bucks in it. I will get picks of the car soon. But you may have already seen them at your local wal-mart.

Naw, bodies kinda brittle, and I do not want to scuff it, will be mostly a shelfy, but ya know, when someone wanted to drag race, hmmmm.

But if you make it really fast, then you can say your toy grade car is faster then so and so's car. lol

What? No saw blades that come out of the front for cutting down trees as you fly through the woods? HA HA! Just kidding of course. Looks pretty cool. I have'nt seen much speed racer stuff. I used to watch that cartoon every day.

looks like a cool project - that's one awesome looking body! looks very narrow though, assuming the entire chassis is going to be custom?

I still have not gotten a chance to crack that shell, But I was thinking of using the original chassis plate because it has alot of the visual effects, i.e. headlights, side valances, and rear pan. It would be difficult imo to design a chassis and still incorporate the body lines. This thing is not very flexable when put together, I will have to see when I pull it apart if this idea will work or not. I will keep you informed.

Original chassis plate is going to be brittle and not up to the challenge.

Maybe do body off measurements of that and the donor TC4 for chassis length, width, wheelbase and overall length and we can crunch on how to best spend your money for the conversion.

Well, the tc4 pictured is not a donor car, would work maybe though. It was just in the pic for size referance. Now, if I were to do my own chassis, I would use aluminum. I have a nice sheet to use, so it could work. I guess I could under cut the chassis slightly to allow room to fit the body and I could glue on all the body line parts that are made onto the bottom chassis. I thought I would use tc4 diffs and drivelines. Ontop of that, I do not know yet. I am still thinking micro electronic, but I need to break into this first to see what I can do. Maybe I can start in the next day or 2

Phil, i saw one of those in the store today, looks like a great body for a custom build - the dimentions are mighty close to the sportwerks recoil - i bet one of those would fit nearly perfect under there and would save you a lot of time trying to narrow up a 190 mm suspension. you might have to make a custom chassis to stretch it out a bit though lengthwise. And they are not too salty if i remember correctly.

hmm, thanx for the tip, I will look into that. I knew I kept you around for a reason. LOL
