This is a custom HellCAT WK-7 that I'm building for a friend, I'm sure he will post a build thread soon, but I was so happy with the way the chassis came out I had to show it off...LOL So when he posts his build thread act like you've never seen it....:chug:

This WK-7 needed a short WB, so it needed custom shock towers.

That's a lot of parts.

Ahhh, styrene is fun.

Sorry if the pics are dark, they look fine on my other machine but this monitor is displaying them dark, I'll see if I can't get better pics in the sun.

A few close-up pics.

nice - i really like the paint/weathering - very realistic. What is that chassis made of if i might ask? looks like lexan or acrylic?

Lexan/Polycarbonate. The Rails are 3/16th, the stays are 1/4" and the rest is 1/8". Do not use acrylic.

Thanks, it maybe a while before I get this involved, I prefer selling the CNC chassis.

I have no plans, it's not mine, so my part is done.

Cool, thank you. I assume you do not use acrylic due to the brittle factor? (I am finding this out as we speak)

Good job! Looks so real, I'm guessing it's not your first. Make sure your friend posts pictures, I'm sure everyone would like to see the finished product, I know I do!

Yea acrylic is very brittle, it is a good window replacement or sign material, it is very scratch resistant unlike lexan. But lexan is flexible, it's strength is in it's softness. So when designing a chassis you need to make sure to supoort it with chassis stays. It's the same with aluminum, but aluminum doesn't bend back on it's own.

This is my first weathered chassis but not my first weathered paint job.

I'm looking forward to seeing this project come together.

kreaky is doing great and did better than expected at our last comp, I am considering trying something I've never done before, I may put kreaky on ebay, so I've got her all cleaned up waiting for me to decide.

Ahhh...got it. i know acrylic is brittle...i've broken a few pieces already. I have a lot left, so we'll see how it holds up - thanks for the info!

Not sure, your not the first to ask, I'll see if I can't think of a figure.

Check around they make special drill bits for acrylic, and use high tack masking tape on all your cut lines to avoid chipping. Also a fast blade with lots of teeth.
