Very nice work!!!
I like it. Can you explain the process for the flame patern in blue? It seems there is some variation in the blue color.
Thanks for sharing

Its a form of marbling. You can use a ball of Saran Wrap and get a similar effect. I just dabbed some blue on the backed with black.
Those are some great pieces Matt!
Hanomag, check out the latest issue of RCD. David explains the marbling process he did on the Flip Syde body.

Alright then, thanks for the tips.
By the way, I only have access to pactra and tamiya paint. Can you suggest a kind of paint that would be appropriate to use??? I mean, I tried some Pactra and Tamiya but it seems that my airbrush doesn't like those kind of paint. Maybe it is the set up; I don't know. I used 30 psi and a ratio of 50 / 50 paint and thinner. I use alcool for thinner cause all the paint are acrylic. But I can't get good result. I can't have a good finish. I tried to replicate true flame using transparant yellow and orange but I couldn't have a good base.
Plus, everytime I read something about painting, I see Fastcolor or House of kolor, Spaz stick, or else... So I wonder maybe it is the kind of paint that is not good!! I dont'know...
DO you have any suggestion???
Thanks

Are the Pactra and Tamiya paints for polycarbonate or are they paint for plastic models? I only use Faskolor, so I haven’t kept up to date with Pactra and Tamiya’s paint products, the last time I used Pactra paint for lexan, it was lacquer based. If the paints are for plastic model use, that may be the issue with poor coverage and adhesion.
Both Pactra and Tamiya make paints for polycarbonate as well as other surfaces. As Greg said, make sure you have the correct kind. Greg is also correct about Pactra being a Lacquer based paint so you will need a good quality Lacquer thinner. Pactra thinner works good. Alcohol will not work correctly as a thinner and will cause problems.
Also if you are using both Acrylic and Lacquer paints together in your paint scheme you could have problems. The Lacquer paint can cause the Acrylic paint to lift or wrinkle if sprayed on top. Spraying Acrylic over Lacquer poses no problems.
