Got the notion to build me a ramp the other day and figured I'd share some step by step pics...

I've had this notion to build a ramp for some time now and even had the materials in the gararge since last fall, but just decided to build it the other day after watching a few vids and smoking a bob.....

First thing was to get some kind of ruff sketch and the assess the materials at hand.

First scetch

Materials at hand.
bundle of pt 2X2's

1/4 ply cut in half and later one half into quarters giving you two 2' x 4' stips and one 4' x 4' section

Don't forget some tools.

And now time to get a better plan so I can start cutting.

Next is to start by cutting the sheet of ply in half and then once more giving you your two sides and two sections for your deck.

Cutting the one 2' x 4' section of 1/4 ply from corner to corner forming the sides.

Notice the other piece of 1/4 ply at 2' x4' under the one side section.
This is to extend the main deck.

Next was to measure, layout, and cut the pieces of 2"x2"'s for the frame.

first section.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t180/Taqrin/DSCF0101.jpg
second section...all pieces are screwed together using a counter sink and 3" pt deck screws.

Next was to screw the two main frame sections together and add a cross brace....again, pre drilling all holes and using 3" screws.

After that, I layed out all the cross braces on the bottom side of the main deck.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t180/Taqrin/DSCF0105.jpg
Making sure the braces all lined up, I marked out crew lines and attached them to the 1/4" plywood deck using 1 5/8" deck srews.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t180/Taqrin/DSCF0104.jpg
Once all the braces were on both halves of the deck, they were screwed together making a 4' x 6' ramp deck.

Once the main deck was finished it was time for another bob....No, no, no.....ummmm!....oh yah! it was time to attach the sides to the frame using those 1 5/8" deck screws.

Now that the majority of the ramp is done, this is all the materials left over...

This is what the ramp looks like from the back....as you can see that 2x2's make for easy adjustability....once you find a nice angle on the ramp, you put a few scews in threw the sides into some of the braces.

My ramp when together in about 15 minutes. I have only a 1X4 on the bottom back for a brace. Not adjustable, kinda small, a little flimsy, and you have to reposition it after about 10 minutes of hitting the ramp. But it works great, nice angle, and is light and easy to carry. My next ramp will most likely be a bit larger for my revo, but this one works fine for my others. You can see it on my wheely king video posted somewhere in this forum.

maybe for the nxt ramp give it more aproach and less incline that way you will go far and worry *less* about the cars landing on their butts
