I have a Hellfire with a HPI K4.6 HO that everytime I clean it up after running it I see oil over the outside of the engine. I had the pull start off and there is oil in there too. The engine makes great power, and has about 2 to 2.5 gallons through it. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I have been doing some research on a new engine for the Hellfire. I have looked at the OS 30vg, OS28xz, Axial 28 & 32, Picco 28 and the one I am leaning towards the LRP 28 Z spec 3. Other then the OS 30 which doesn't look like it lasts long they are all on the table.

WELL SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A LEAK WHERE THE PULL START IS. I HAVE ALL THOSE MOTORS AND THE LRP TRUGGY PUTS OUT ALMOST 4 HUGE HP.AS FOR THE OS 30VG I HAVE NOT RUN THAT ONE YET AS I AM WAITING FOR THE BACKPLATE.AXIAL IS A VERY GOOD MOTOR AND IS MADE IN THE SAME FACTORY AS THE HPI MOTOR . THE AXIAL .28 IS A VERY STRONG RUNNER AND THE .28RR SPEC 1 IS INSAINLY FAST!! I LIKE THE LRP YOU CAN SEE IT IN MY HYPER ST BUILD THREAD.

Thanks, your truggy is awsome. I think the LRP is a good engine. I am an OS guy. I have been into nitro RC's since I bought my first truck in 1992. I have only run Kyosho, OS and Hpi so far. Is there anything I can do to fix my oil issues?

hmm..i would say make sure your backplate, cylinder head and header are all well sealed, sounds like one of them is a little loose or is not making a good seal.

I went over the engine and in the end I replaced the exhaust rubber gasket and the oil is gone. Two tanks and no oil on the outer case of the engine. Thanks for the advise and help.
