Still a work in progress, but here's a couple pics of my RC18. Only hop ups so far are Mamba 25, 5400kv combo, Hyperion Litestorm 1800mah lipo batts, and an RPM bumper. I have some Trinity aluminum 1/10 wheel adapters I'll be installing shortly, along with a 3Racing nylon wing, and a JConcepts Illuzion body. It started out as an 18T, but it has been converted to an 18B.

That's a hot little car... You said 'your only hopups so far'... What else do you have planned?
Are those Litestorms 7.4 or 11.1V? I am surprised the tires still have tread left.

My Litestorms are 7.4v. Those tires were only run for about 5 minutes just to check the stock elecs before gutting the car, that's the only reason they have tread left lol. Other than the 1/10 adapters, 3R wing, and Illuzion body, it will be getting some factory team shocks, Lunsford Ti turnbuckles, and MIP CVD's. Got the adapters installed, and a set of Jaco Prism foam tires mounted up.

The buggy got a good workout today. I installed the 3R wing, and 2 full lipo packs later, and this is what my tires look like lol.

You need a set of nitro foams , those are for carpet tracks .
I have a set of GRP foams and they are holding up great .

Yeah these were my carpet tires. They were already to the point where they were almost garbage, so I figured I might as well get a couple more runs out of them before tossing em. I have a new set of GRP's just waiting to be put on it. They're the same tires I'm running on my Tamtech, and they have been holding up very well.

Yep , those GRP's have been standing up too my Mamba 8000Kv system and a 3s LiPo with suprisingly little wear .
A little advice , either use the sidewall protectors that come with the GRP wheels or run a thin layer of CA around the sidewall of the tire .
This will help keep the sidewall from chunking out from turning at high speed .

Will do. I always run a little CA around the outside edges of my foamies. It does wonders for longevity. I have seen tires ruined in as little as 1/2 a pack:eek: because they weren't glued. Tires are too expensive to be replacing every couple runs.:)

JConcepts lid showed up today. Got it cut out, and the holes drilled now I just have to decide how I want to mask it, and what colors I want to use.

Ok I got the paint pretty much finished up. I'm still waiting on a bottle of Faskrome to arrive in the mail so there are a few strips of tape still. I will just peel them and brush the spots with the chrome when it shows up.

Finishing the body did not go my way at all. I managed to do more harm than good:mad:. Since the paint was not yet sealed, I soaked the whole thing in hot soapy water and started from scratch with a clear body again. Went with a completely different color scheme this time around.

hmmm, no offense, but i don't like that ^^^ job as much as the first one... the tinted chrome look is kinda cheezy in my eyes, which are of course just my eyes...

That's cool. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I like it though, and I am gonna do a very similar paint job on this one, so the "team" matches.

I got the truck pretty much wrapped up. I still need to paint the bed, grill, and lights, but I will do those by hand so I pulled the overspray film and got a couple more pics.

how long have you had your RC18B, what gearing do you use when you switch over to touring car wheels?

05-28-2008, 05:05 PM
you have two?
fastmax

I've had this 18B for a couple months or so. The one I had prior to this one I had for about a year. I do have 2. As you can see in the pics, I have a T version for bashing with, and the B is for racing. With the Mamba/Lipo in the B and 1/10 foams I run 14/55 gearing on most tracks. On some of the larger layouts I run 16/55.

Prisms are by far my favorite tires I have ever run in 20+ years of being in this hobby.

I recently vacationed for a couple weeks in South Carolina, and was able to get in some time at a local track down there with the RC18's. It was a lot of fun to run on the HUGE oval with the brushless setup, and the road course was AWESOME. Here are a few pics of the facility.

I know u built them for on-road but can u slap some off-road tires on and off-road. Nearest on-road place fo me is nearly 250 miles away. Off road is walking distance away.

Both of these 18's have been built for on-road, and off road carpet (stadium racing), but with a couple suspension changes, and some pin tires they are still very capable off roaders.

Man i wish I had that on-road track near me. I'd love to get a Fusion .28, but the roads around here are too ropgh.

That road course is a blast to run with BL/Lipo. The RC18's can carry some incredible speeds throughout the entires course cause they are so small, and the lanes are so wide.

Yea put 43 18's! Like nascar! On the track at the same time! That would be awsome! "They got 10 wide!":D

That would be incredible. I would love to see that happen.

Here's a couple quick vids of my 18B. Sorry about the quality, but I couldn't find my tripod so my camera was sitting right on the ground.

ya an it would be a waste to burn out those tires

LOL those are a set of tires that I have already trued about 4 times. They're pretty much useless on the track, so I just use them to do some street bashing every now and then. Those donuts def take their toll on them though.
