thanks, i know that much thats how i got the truck in the first place, i was asking for some opinions on some decent upgrades for the battery and motor, other upgrade i can figure out there is just alot of options for batteries and motors and some insight would be great.

well, what are you looking to spend? ballpark?

if money is not an object, i recommend an ESC and brushless motor combo. Castle and Novak both make great systems... pick something that will give you the best balance of speed and run time, a higher KV rating is faster, but will drain the battery quicker, and vice versa. A castle 5700 is always a good pic.

Battery-wise, a 3000mah or higher nimh would be a good place to start.

^^^ also, what vehicle is this going into?? my word of advice, first get a nice batt., then a nice ESC, then a nice motor, so u can upgrade as time goes without having to spend more on newer, better parts

RC10T4-RS is my rc, all stock at the moment, reedy radon 17 turn motor, LRP Ai digital esc, just some plane jane battery i got from tower 1500. thats the set up so far. i was thinking about a Lipo battery but i have no idea about that stuff, been outta the loop for close to 20 years!
thanks for the advice too. oh and money isnt realy a concern but i dont need to "break the bank"!!! i just want to go faster for longer!

brushless is really the way to go - more power and much more efficient! Check out the new sidewinder sets from Castle - very well priced. I believe Novak has a lower price set out as well, and the Velineon system is well priced too (and works really well!)

before buying a battery, make sure your charger can handle it also. hooking up a battery to a charger that cannot accomdate it is bad news! Most new chargers should be able to handle a nimh battery though, but better safe than sorry. a 3300 pack can be found fairly cheap and will nearly double your run-times.

li-po's seem to be the battery of the future, i cannot comment on them as i have my first one on order, but properly charged and maintained, they seem have a ton of performance advantages.

I concur with oldschool. I upgraded my old rustler with the novak system and it is great. The speed is amazing and the run times are great. i also like the fact that there is almost no maintanence on the brushless systems. But be warned, the I have had to upgrade my batteries for my brushless systems because there was so much current draw on start up that the voltage cutoff was kicking in.

^^^^ amen, novak ESC with 8.5 turn LRP vector motor runs like a dream, just make sure the tranny can handle it!!
