View Full Version : Spektrum glitching
Hello,
I have a M8 radio with both the Spektrum and FM tranmitters modulars. When I put the Spektrum in and run about 5 mins, the buggy goes into failsafe on and off. If I change it out to the FM, it works fine. This happens on two buggies. The batteries are new (AA's) so it's not that. It seems to me I heard something about the type of servos might have something to do with it. Does anyone know what servos work and don't work with this setup? Or if there is a work around so I don't have to get new servos if this is the issue?
Thanks in Advance
John

Which version of the Spektrum are you using?
And when this problem occurs, how many other Spektrum users are sharing the area with you?
How do I tell what version I'm using? I received this in a deal with someone. He claimed he didn't have any problems, but he also said he hadn't run them in awhile.
As for who is around me, I'm at home with no one around. I can get it to do it sitting on my work bench in my shed.

Might sound odd but try different servos.
Buddy of mine had the same problem. Swapped out servos and the chatter and jitters disappeared.
He had Hitec servos when he had jitters.
One buggy has 2 Hitec 565's and the other has a Hitec 525 and a Hobbico Commander (steering) servo. I sent an email to Airtronics asking them about this. I'll have to see if I have any extra servos that will work.

Swap out to a servo from a different manufacturer and see if the problem persists.
On the buggy with one Hitec and one Hobbico...unplug the Hitec (you can set throttle to idle manually), put the buggy on a stand, do a range check and see how it acts.

make sure you have your setting for digital or non digital servos (fast and standard speed).. i had that problem in the past...

Are you using rechargable reciever packs or alkaline? Spektrum systems are voltage sensitive and some people have had issues when using them with alkaline reciever packs.
I have both, but mainly run the AA's because I seem to get longer life out of them...I emailed Airtronics and they told me to call them. I'm hoping to have a chance today to do so. I'll post what I get from them.
I called both airtronics and spektrum. Airtronics said I tested correctly, seeing how the FM worked ok. Spektrum said for me to try the battery pack again
instead of the 4 AA's. If after doing that it still happens, to pack it up and send it to them and they will check it out to see what is happening.
I'll keep you post with my findings.

Check the voltage on your rechargeable pack too if you are having problems with both, especially if it is an old pack.

Did you ever get this problem resolved? If so please let us know what it was :)
Sorry about the delay in getting back. I haven't been able to try it out yet. I contacted both Airtronics and Spetrum. Airtronics said with the FM working but the Spektrum having problems, to contact Spektrum.
Spektrum said that their system was very sensative to voltage, therefore the 4 AA's may cause problems and to try a receiver pack. They also said if I wanted to send them my system, they would check it over.
I'll post my findings when I get a chance to check it out
Thanks

I cant speak for other spectrum radios but i know of 2 radios in my area that I took apart and found that the antenna wire came off the tab down on the circuit board. I soldered them back using a cold heat tool. Do not use to much heat or breaking down the solder in the board may occur.
I don't think it's having to do with the wiring. I checked that and they seem solid. My guess is the batteries like they said.
I'll let you know when I get a chance to test it

have you ever of checking the module or seeing if it is the remote you are using?
Please explain, I'm not sure what you are referring to.

i meant have you checked if the battery that you ar using is bad or the actual acontroller itself is bad? check the module also and make sure that is not it

I think he's referring to the transmitter module used to convert other brand radios to the Spektrum system. Like with mine I use a Futaba 3PJS radio and a Spektrum module to make it use the Spektrum system instead of 27Mhz FM.
