Only runs w/ glow ignitor

I have a Savage .25 S that only runs with the glow plug ignitor mounted. Once I pull it off, the motor shuts down. When I pull the glow plug out and put the ignitor on it, the glow plug gets hot but not cherry hot. Could it be a bad plug?

Also, How long will fuel last? I have a bottle three years old.

get a quart of fuel, make sure to keep the lid on and dont store it where the humidity is high, and go get some mccoy#9 plugs they work the best on hot .humid days like today
