Hello, well I have been doing ALOT of research and I am looking to get back into the RC world. I used to have an electric monster truck back in the day but now I want to jump into the Nitro world of RC.

Well originally I was stuck on the HPI hellfire, great looking truggie, from the videos I saw it ran pretty damn good. but now I got to looking into the Associated GT2 and I am now looking into the GT2. I came to the conclusion that because the hellfire is still fairly new that availability of parts isnt quite there yet and I have seen that there are plenty of GT2 parts available.

So I am almost convinced on the GT2 RS RTR. I would love to buy a kit but I was instant gratification so that means I have to go with RTR. I plan on doing some slight modification to the GT2 RTR when I get it so I am going to tinker with stuff that way. maybe once i get better famaliar with nitros then i will look into a kit.

But I was wondering if I could get some real hands on insight into these GT2's.

I am going to start off with simple bashing in the beginning to get used to the handling of the nitro and then possibly get into racing at a local track.

Thanks in advance for your help and insight. Thanks

Matt

As an added note... What kind of skill level is involved in building an RC from a kit? on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being very skilled.

What would be better quality of car, kit or rtr? Thanks and Im sorry for all the questions as I ams ure you guys/gals are sick of them. Thanks again

yeah I am fairly certain that the GT2 is what I am going to buy next week. how would I go about removing the restrictor? Also how long does the 75cc tank last? Obviously it depends on how hard I run it but on average how many minutes can I get out of it.

And one last thing while I am thinking about it. I know that when I get the truck it will tell me more about the break in period but what is the break in period like and how long does it last.

Once again thanks guys for the help, it is much appreciated. I am currently waiting the 4-6 weeks for my RC Driver subscription to show up. Hopefully it will come soon. I just spent $11 on the June and July magazines.

Thanks again

Matt

I was also reading about a "throttle return spring" is this piece something I could pick up at my LHS?

I read that with this in place it stops runoffs if the batteries on the receiver go dead.

Alright well I pulled the plug and purchased a GT2 RS RTR last night, I just have to wait for it to come in the mail.

Does anyone use or tried the K&N air filter for these cars. I ran into one on Ebay and it peaked my interest. ANyone have any experience with the K&N on their nitros?

Stick with a good RC foam filter, and if it's really dry and dusty, a non-oiled prefilter over that. Clean and re-oil frequently and it will be fine. Foam replacements are cheap and much cheaper than a new engine. Check and clean the element often (like after every day of running, more often if really dusty).

GT2 is a great truck, but if you have the quick-change rear hubs, wheel selection will be limited.
