In your opinion what is the best electric monster truck ever? For me nothing beats the Super Clodbuster, it's big, tough and runs over almost anything that gets in its way.

I think that I've got to hand it to the Traxxas E-Maxx and E-Revo. The fact that they're waterproof and that they're "brushless ready" makes them stand out from the pack.

I love my mini LST2 too, but I hate those cheap servos it comes with. Do you still run with stock servos?

Original Blackfoot. First monster i ever had, and the first truck out there that had good looks, good suspension - just the whole package. the Grandaddy of the monter truck movement...I still have one today just for fun, and i still like running it.

I know, i know, it's in a different league from the rest on this thread...but I'm old school! :)

I would say the E-REVO , stock its a lot of fun but put in a brushless system and look out !

TMAXX JUNKIES , loosen your slipper a little . Its VERY important that its set correctly or the drivetrain will eat itself .

I am running a Quark 33 and a Mamba 8000Kv motor on a 3s battery and havent had too rebuild in a long time .

1 bad bug , the Exotek chassis will cure all of your servo woes and is well worth the money IMO ...

look at it this way. im a bit of a purist as far as realism goes when it comes to monster trucks. so the way i figure it, the only real monster trucks on the market are the clodbuster, and TXT-1. real monster trucks have solid axles, 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steering, and crush cars.
where as trucks like the t-maxx and revo with independent suspension, lower slung chassis to improve handling on off road courses are nothing more than over grown 4 wheel drive stadium trucks with big tires, they're not real monster trucks.

If they could build an independent suspension strong enough too take the punishment that monster trucks take the pro's would be running them in a heartbeat .

There are too many advantages too an independent suspension not too run one .

e-maxx and e-revo, because:

both are water proof, dual motors that can handle up to 16.8V (2 x 7 cell packs),

both drive trains can handle dual brushless motors,

parts are readily available,

hex head bolts are more durable than philip's head screws,

fast,

rugged,

and most of all FUN!

I believe if you want to know which is the best look at history, what hobby grade monster has been around the longest......if I'm not mistaken and I maybe but the Clodbuster has been around since 1985. They still sell and the only thing they have changed on it are the grill and paint schemes. Not many other monsters have that kind of longevity and basically stay the same.

Ok, I can see your point on longevity....but, put a clod buster at the same break neck speeds the revo and maxx have, and will it stand the abuse? Will it turn without rolling over many times at high speed, and most of all, is it WATER RESISTANT?

Hmm, I have to say, why Oh why did all the savage owners/nutz not jump into the mix? Savages are alright, but will not run with a revo.

IMO, Revo takes the checkers, I mean how many Clods do you see crossing the finish line at the big races? Isn't that what Monster Trucks are all about, Racing and Awing the Crowd? A revo can do that. True it does not have a solid axle, but, did drag cars always have a motor behind the driver???Hmmm??? Did Airplanes always have thrust vectoring nozzles??? Did trains always run 200MPH??? Things change, and sometimes for the better. It is not always better to have scale apperance, how far will that get you in the offroad MT races?

I don't hate the revo or anything, but like "ST dragn wagen" said trucks like the maxx line and revo aren't really monster trucks they're just overgrown 4wheel drive stadium trucks. For the most part I would say the majority of RC drivers out there are just backyard bashers, so an expensive "race" truck like the revo probably wouldn't appeal to them. That and trucks like the revo are a dime a dozen, so the revo jumps a little higher than the savage, oh well HPI will be back next year with a new design trying to beat the competition. Sometimes it's not always about winning races but about how much fun the truck is to run.

I had a e-maxx and loved it but i guess the real question is what is the best monster truck for you. Revo's are nice but I like my clod. And that is the true root of the question because it suits the needs of the owner. And to be fair I put my clod together from pieces not out of the box so I could have made it waterproof! But that is a debate for another thread.

Since the word "ever" was put on to the end of the question I think it goes beyond just a performance thing. If it's just about being the fastest, best jumping, best racer than it will alway be the lastest hi-tech model out. But since "ever" was added it has to be about more than that.

I've been in and out of RCs for about 25 years now, and a monster truck fan even longer than that. Back in the mid 80s there really wasn't a true monster truck that had come out that could hold together. There were some lackluster attempts like the MRP High Roller and the absolute piece of junk Varicom Big Grizzly. There was of course the Bruiser, but it was expensive and while it did an OK job of staying together it really couldn't be bashed.

It was the Clodbuster that really was the first true hobby grade monster truck. Sporting terra tires, 4WD and 4WS, in a package that resembled monster trucks of the time, and most importantly could take a beating. Sure it wasn't perfect, the steering was imprecise, the suspension left a lot to be desired, but it was a huge leap forward. The fact that is has been in production for 20+ years, pretty much untouched, speaks volumes. It has become the standard for solid axle monster truck racing, competition crawling, and scale monsters. And because of it's various uses it probably has the largest aftermarket support of any single vehicle ever made.

Sure arguements could be made for the Traxxas T/E Maxx lines since they really created a boom in the industry and gave the world a monster truck that could race on the track. But I think(as was said before) the were outgrowths of truggies rather than Traxxas desire to make a RC version of a monster truck.

And while I do own 2 clods(both original '87s) and an Emaxx, and even had a Savage, they are not my favorite monster. That honor goes to my TXTs with Emaxx transmissions.:D

Just my opinion, let the debate continue..........

you should get an exotek conversion where it uses one mini servo like the original CRT.5

Nobody count out the little Wheely King that replay review was awesome drove it off a 150 ft cliff and only needed $20 of repairs after a few runs

I'm going to go ahead and vote mine the best. And about that solid axle argument. It only holds true if your talking about monster trucks from the 80's. Real 1 to 1 scale monster trucks today have suspensions that rc's still dont make. And also most of them have engines mounted in the rear/center. While were talking about real monster trucks, I still havent seen an electric powered Bigfoot or Grave Digger yet. If it looks like a monster then call it a monster.

To be honest, When I was young, the Stampede busted onto the scene as the most inovative, durable monster truck out for the time. It has stood the test of time with the only real changes being made are speed controls and motors. A little bit of the tranny for the new power. But the chassis has stayed pretty much the same. While it has not been around as long as the clod, nor has the "scale" looks, or 4wd, it still deserves respect in very much the same way a clod does. My 2 cents.

Thats all I'm saying. Monster trucks come in all shapes and sizes. The best truck to play with is the one you got/afford. Granted some have stood the test of time and belong in some kind of hall of fame. But the new trucks coming out have better and better stuff on them every year...for most of them.

correct me if im wrong but werent 1/12th buggies (now evolved into1/10th) the first rc's?

still say the pede, had it over 9yrs now and its still going, and going, and going... i cant convince myself to get rid of it either jk. the pede is the #1 basher: low price, simple construction, time tested design, speed (new models anyway) and a aftermarket parts support that is only riviled by the maxx and revo series, and if my traxxas history is good the pede was a cheap alternative to the "pricy maxx" and sported the now classic magnum 272 tranny

I still like my E-Maxx, it's very versatile.I can do alot of upgrade to suit my style of bashing.I can run it anywhere in any weather.I like the looks of the new Traxxas Summit,it's got a single 775 motor which means you only need one battery and still get plenty of power to climb or run in the mud. I like the two speed tranny, you can speed on it or crawl over obstacles. I like the body with the roll cage on the outside, keeps the road rash to a minimum. Also it's got a cool set of offroad lights,I just hope they can be switched off when not needed. It's got locking diffs,I guess you can unlock them when you don't need the extra pulling power.I prefer the full time four wheel drive I got in my E-Maxx. All in all I think I like my E-Maxx better. I might put a set of the offroad lights on it.I'm thinking of putting the single bigger 775 motor in my E-Maxx to save on batteries.I'd like to put a Castle Creations Mamba Max motor and ESC in my Maxx but it's not water proof like the 775 in the Summit.Well thats my opinion, go with the E-Maxx
