My project the Sandpede

Well sence i had a stampede just laying around i thought i would start a project with it, thought about using the trany in it for a crawler or scale truck but already have the wheely king. and sence my t-maxx is making me mad i thought i would turn it in to a sand truck or buggy. as of right now it is just a rolling chassie. everything is stock in it so far. i just got the body the other day. havnt painted it yet. if you have any ideas let me know cause i dont have any as of now. hope you guys like. oh and i plan on puting a VXL system in this bad boy.

well here is an update on the body, the blue tape is going be yellow and everything esle is going be black. have the paint on order so hopefully bye the end of the week i will have the body painted. i also got some paddle tires off of ebay and they should be here about the same time as the paint. now i just need to get some bead locks and get the Velineon in it and it will be good to go.

well here is a little update on the SandPede. still dont know if i like the name or not. but anyways. i got the back paddle tires in still need to find front ones. they are on my crawler's beadlocks but do have some on the way. hope you guys like the paint job i did with it. the yellow didnt turn out the way i thought it was going to. it has like green in it but it looks kind of cool. let me know what you guy think. thanks.

well i got my other bead locks for it today. they are white and i am thinking about dieing them yellow or black. but if any one knows how to die wheels let me know. i have no idea how to at all. thanks. oh and i should be getting my front tires some time in the next couple of days when they come i will mont them up and take some more pictures then after that all i have to do it get the VXL system and she will be ready to test drive.

those rims are for my crawler, i have some white rims that i am useing and going dye. but yeah once i get this done i will post pictures and videos.

well eric she doesnt have any front wheel right now and nor a motor of esc so i could take a video of her just sitting there but i think it would be more fun once i get all the stuff in to her. lol i knew what you ment and yes i will for sure put vidoes of her up once i get her going. untill then...pictures are all you will get.

How do you keep sand from getting into all of your parts? My friend said that if got into the transmission it would cause a buttload of trouble. :confused:

hmmm well i have a rpm tranny cover and as of right now i dont know if that will be enought or if i am going have to tape or do something to protect it. but i havnt thought about that yet so thank you for bring that up. and when i do i will post and tell you people what i did.

I FINELY GOT MY FRONT WHEELS!!!!!!! now i just need to get a bl system...still debating between mamba maxx and the VXL system. but here are some up date pictures. i got my beadlocks and painted them black. have the sand paws in back and panther razer ( i think thats they are called) up font. hope you like. it is getting closer and closer. my plan is to get her done before i head off to college.

taylor, as you can see in these pictures the blue clover for the back, it doesnt have any opening on it at all. it is nice. but i am sure i still might get some sand in the tranny but i hope not.

ive always run without a cover, the sand may cause some wear, but if you do a casual cleaning afterwards, it shouldn't be a big problem, are you getting the metal tranny gears so your pede wont need a new set everytime you smash the throttle? its relatively cheap, i just ordered a set for my xl1 pede because im going vxl as well. may i also suggest steel output yolks and 5x11 bearings and appropriate sized hub axle carriers and steering blocks

i'd go with te CC sidewinder BL system. not too expensive. good things have been said and shown of the systems. me personally would go that route

FieroMan - yes i am looking at getting the vxl tranny and new hubs but didnt think abot the steel output yolks thanks.

MOD - i am thinking about getting the MM in stead of the sidewinder. it is only like $20 more then the VXL system and you can play aroud with stuff on the computer with it.

she is coming slowy but surely.

well update on the powersystem....i am for sure getting the SIDEWINDER it is cheeper then the VXL system and all i have hear about the CC is good things...so this weekend i will by that system and hopefuly sometime next week get it up and running. i just hope i dont blow out my tranny on the frist run.

well i just won a MM on ebay so that is what is going be going in there. and it iscoming with the 5400kv motor. i think i will be happy with this. will take pictures and a video when i get it instaled. now all i need to get is a lipo battery.

i have no idea what kind of lipo i am going get. have to get a new charger frist. if you guys have any tips or what king of chargers or batties are good let me know.

bugz, have u used a lipo before? If not I'd go with the trinty balence charger. Around $50 charges 2/3 cells. For a lipo battire I'd go with Max amps 4000-8000 mah 3-cell (11.1 volts). But like I tell everyone I'm a nitro guy what do I know?

but eric does that charger charge nimh batteries also? and not i have never used a lipo before. the charger that i want is a chager that can charger every kind of battery out right now. but i will look in to the trinty charger thanks

yeah i am going get a lipo from maxamps 6000hv but that might be another 2-3 weeks before i get that.

so yeah i am at a stand still untill i get the batteries from maxamp. or new batteries in gentral. i switched all my speed contorls over to dean plugs and was working on my battery well melted the plug :mad:so i have to say i suck at soldering. i am just lucking i didnt mess up the speed contorl. so if any one out there knows of online hobby shops that sell batteries with deans plugs already on them, please let me know. i was due for new batteries anyways now i just have to wait for them with out driving any thing.:( oh and i got a vxl tranny for the pede. like i said once i get batteries now i will post action shots and a video.

did you apply any flux on the tip of the wire and connector. it helps distribute the solder. plus it takes alot of practice. i had to replace the chassis of my rustler cause i dropped the ironand it melted a hole into it.

easy easy good things come to though who wait. yeah i wouldnt wait for the lipo batteries eather so i soldered on a deans end to one of my 1500 pack and took it camping with me this past week. lets just say the people around me were complaing about too much dust beein in the air. sorry didnt get to take any pictures my gf took my camra but i promise pictures by this weekend. sorry it is taking me for ever with it. but i will put pictures up this weekend if not sunner. and maybe a video.

sorry it too a while for me to post this i went to the fair tonight (autocross night FUN FUN) but this is the run with the 4000Mah in it. LOT faster and couldnt keep the front wheels down on the start. yeah i think once i get my lipo i will have a nitro killer on my hands. MUHAHAHAHA

no dont get me wrong i love nitro just for the resion. i just dont like the head achs that come with it when it doesnt work. i never had the best of luck with them so i am going stick with what i some what know. but if some one gave me a nitro to drive on yeah i would snatch that control right up. but that is only after i beat them with my sandpede..lol.

yeah i HAVE to get a wheelie bar for it. cant hammer it off the start as you can see in the video.

i guess i should post alittle up, it been a while. hmmm i will post some picture up later but yeah the BL system with the 4000 mha batter is stupied fast... so i am going take it out and put in a waterproof speed contorl and a 17turn motor...that should give me enough wheel spin. and then with the MM i want to put it in a car....but for the sandpede i have bought a wheel bar...broke that more then once..lol, had some road tires but they suck so i need to buy new ones. but that is it for now. like i said i will take some picture and post then up later

I know the tires, But what are the wheels that you used in the front and rear...The tires are a 2.2 sand but what do they fit on?

If they are 2.2 then they will fit on any 2.2 rim. :p

so yeah sandpede is no more.....i know sad i know, but i hope to build a custem sand rail to takes it place. but thats a dream right now so it might might not happen.
