take a fairly large PLASTIC cutting board that has a smoothish surface,
and get some wide masking tape, and take a long enough strip to go almost
edge-to-edge and stick it on the board. then youll be able to X-acto knife
your masking tape, with out scoring your body. it works great for flames

this works for me, but youll have to try it for yourself

Does the tape stay "sticky" enough (after taking it off the cutting board) to resist bleeding at the edges?

Tip: Goto a local sign shop, and ask them if they have any old scrap vinyl! The best for masking! You might have to try a couple if the first one says no!
