well sorry it took me so long to update the thread but i had my cousins down and they live 6 hrs away so i had to hang out with them. so anyway i got some stuff done-
got the chassis all finished. i tried to use plexi glass as the crossmembers but it didnt work so i used cutting board(thanks NickRummy and Maxx4x4 for the idea). i will be painting it th same colour as the rims soon-

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley369.jpg
i also got the rims painted. i am still deciding whether or not to buy new tires or unglue the old ones(for the fourth time)-
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley370.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley371.jpg
i got the body painted and will be cutting it out later today. i will also probably make the links for the chassis too. -Wes

I would try the losi rock claws they work extremely well, and by the way are you doing a 2.2, super, or just whatever works? if you do the 2.2 definitley look into the losi tires!
master_of_desaster
07-17-2008, 12:12 AM
JDK dude look into RC4WD's 2.2 Mud Slingers on there! look exactly like the TSL boggers in your pics! they are really good mud tires. also look into imex truck pullers!
bugz2002
07-17-2008, 06:21 AM
i would have to agree with MOD the rc4wd tires would look killer on that. but you put on what ever you want.

sweet - looking good! 'Cutting board' is great, I use it all the time. You can dye it black as well as painting it, and I've found that it doesn't chip nearly as easy.

its not going to looks a whole lot different but i think it looks better. i am also re-thinking the position of the battery and electronics. i and probably going to move the servo onto the frame for better articulation and looks, i will be getting a smaller waterproof box for the esc and reciever and will be puting it in the back and probably get a lottle waterproof box for the battery and mount it at the front and make a link from the esc to the batt. that way with the batt at the front it will not flip very easily going up inclines. i have been having a bit of trouble witht the suspension though. the springs are too soft, they have no bounce back at all. if that ok or should i get some beter springs, and if so any reccomendations would be great. thanks -Wes:D

Great mock-up! Are those traxxas Long shocks or XX-Long shocks? XX-Longs whats on the T-maxx. and Long are the front shocks for the bandit, rustler, and pede. If long shocks try the XX-Long springs. If The shocks are XX-L try the traxxas Black springs.

well i finally got this sucker to a roller. i got the shock towers on it, i got the bed cut and ready, i got the servo mounted and working and i got the body mounted, and i got the front bumper made but i havent mounted it yet. it looks pretty awsome so far. i did get to take it out for a few minutes but that tmiya stock can is junk and way overgeared but i had no pinions that wold for except for one and its like 18T. i will probably be getting a 27T monster motor from josh the 2nd but im still a little undesided. anyway the truck worked great no flaughs it went over rocks like nothing but i have to get some velcro so i can get the body to stay on. and no thats not the permanent place for the electronics i just wanted to make sure everything worked before i kept going. i should be starting on the cage as soon as i get some velcro. okay onto some pics-

them some great pics Wes! to answer your question with the driveshaft problem. i had the same thing with the wheely king when i put the maxx shafts on it. jus the torque make the lil ears stretch and let the driveshaft pop out. i took the more expensive route knowing that i'll never have problems again, i jus bought rc4wd's punisher shafts. i have athread showing it. i have the maxx shaft still in the front cause the punisher is pretty expensive, but the punisher resides in the rear where most of the work is done when you crawl.

for inner fenders/wheel wells, i like to use styrofoam, styrene, or something of the like. easy to form and easy to carve and get to where you like. its fairly inexpensive and easily found.

and i know technically this isint part of my build thread butttt it is crawler related. while i was up at my cottage i decded to make a crawler track, and this is how it goes.
first you start by going down a branch bridge then turning right
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley513-1.jpg
then you go under the bridge and through some mud
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley514-1.jpg
then go down some rocks to a small pool of water
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley516-1.jpg
then go through the water and turn right again and go along the waters edge
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley517-1.jpg
then up a small hill path
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley518-1.jpg
then keep going past the bridge to another small path hill that has a few rocks on it
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley519-1.jpg
then continue on the path until you see a bridge, then cross that bridge and turn left
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley520.jpg
then when you turn left you are on the side of a steep cliff that drops about 2 ft straight downinto the water
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley521.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley522.jpg
then after you make it across the ledge head across a 2 beam bridge
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley524.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley523.jpg
then after the bridge turn right onto a soon to be rock covered flat part
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley525.jpg
after that you will have to go down a slight drop into the water and mud and follow the river of mud/water
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley526.jpg
then you go under the bridge that you just crossed
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley527.jpg

way to get some real bogging tires man! you wont be disappointed! if your going for hardcore boggin realism cut the smaller lugs off. but that'll be later on! anyways the bench seat will look awesome in there and as for beadlocks... slap some black prolines on there:D looks boggerific Wes!

after you go under the bridge you will hit another small puddle of mud/water
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley528.jpg
then you will head under the next bridge(this is only a temporary bridge i still need ideas for a bridge to replace it
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley529.jpg
then after you go under that brideg you can either go straight and redo the track again or keep going straight and staigt off the track and up a big hill and out

rear
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley548.jpg
the front but i unno if im gunna keep all weights or go the same as the rear
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley547.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley549.jpg
i also made myself up some foams for the tires
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley550.jpg
after what seemed like forever i finally got the tire on the beadlock
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley551.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley552.jpg
i was wondering if there was a special way to get the tires on the beadlocks because no matter what i tried nothing worked, the bead still isint fully on. also if your wondering whay the rock rings are red, they wont be for long, i got some blue paint and should get them from red to blue very soon. -Wes

looks great. its kinda tough to explain how i mount my tires on to beadlocks. basically i stuff one side in, lightly tighten the side down, then go to the opposite side and stuff in the bead, then tighten lightly, then go to another side and do the same until you go all around the tire... stuffing and tightening lightly

LSX- i unno but all i know it the front weigh a ton! so i think im gunna run the same as the rear.
-Wes
johndeerekid
10-09-2008, 08:05 PM
okay i decided not to runt the same as the rear but still have more. i made it so the weights went 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 instead of 2 2 2 2 2 2. i also i finally figured out how to mount my beadlocks. you have to put the rim insert over the tire and the beadlock goes over that. also i have a question. i have no oven cleaner so i was wondering what else can i use to get the paint off of my beadlock rings? -Wes
johndeerekid
10-11-2008, 12:06 AM

heres the story from my cottage. On the first day that we got to the cottage we took all of our trucks out of the trailer and my brother, his friend and I took out there 2 WK's and my crawler and decided to go down to the beach. after a few minutes of rock crawling this happened-

the yoke coming out of the tranny spread in the rear end but i quickly fixed it and headed back out. but it just kept happening, so i pretty much had to cruise around in front wheel drive for most of the week, but luckily there was a WK to tow me around:D but after a while the front end yoke spread then it was undrivable. doees anyone know why it might be spreading? anything i can do to stop it? anyway onto the pics you have been waitin for-

All you need to do is put an o-ring over it as a collar or even attenpt to stretch fuel tubing over it.

Well everyone i am sincerely sorry for the extremely long wait for an update, but my camera broke a while back and i haven't been able to update anything. So get ready for a huge update on project Bog Hog. also i would like to apalogize for the pics because some are bluury/ or dark because im just getting the hang of the new camera.
Okay well to get things started i totally tore down the whole truck and started cleaning it up and fixing some stuff that i messed up on when i built the truck.
Firstly was the tranny mount. a couple of my dads old offroad buddies were over checking it out, and they suggested that i lower and try and centre the tranny so thats just what i did. i got a mount made up and its mint! no more yoke poppin for me-

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley653.jpg
Then since it was stating to rust and looked odd on the chassis i paited it up-

Then i found this
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley663.jpg
^^so i had to glue that up
Then i made another front body mount and so that you can barely see that ugly white chassis connector-

well guys i have been running this guy for quite a while. well i decided to take it out with my bro and his friend and there Wk's and make a small indoor crawler track and such. well there was this one piece of wood and they were going all out and hitting it and getting air and they kept saying cmon gun it, hit it!! so im like okay ill try it. so i gave that 35T all i had, hit the wood, the front end went straight up, the rear caught on the wood and slammed the front end down. now this is not a lighweight truck, i have a 7 cell battery, wheel weights, servo, esc, and reciever all mounted upfront so when that font end hit the ground she hit HARD! this is the aftermath-

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley500-1.jpg

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley504-1.jpg
i managed to pop the shock cap off and break the axle case. my mom wasnt happy about the shock oil all over the carpet either:D
so i remebered i had an extra axle i got when i bought my other axles for the crawler
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley505-1.jpg
it had the exact part i needed
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley506-1.jpg
so i tore the crawler down and cracked the case and this is what i found
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley507.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley508-1.jpg
the screws holding the main diff gear werent tightened AT ALL. im glad i looked in there.
so after seeing that i decede to check inside the diff and see if there was any damage.
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley509-2.jpg
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t245/johndeerekid/Wesley510-2.jpg
no damaged parts but an odd way of locking. they put the one gear inbetween the other 2 like normal but then put some hard plastic chunks to fill in the rest:confused. so i left it and tightened the diff back up and put it back in.
