I'm sure the mugen is nice and all, but when are we going to see some out of the box thinking on these 1/8 buggies? i give losi some credit for the 8ight as it's a slightly different layout, but the basic design of every one is nearly identical. where is the predator X1, revo or going way back, royal ripper (anyone remember them?? :) ) of 1/8 scale biggies?

sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread, just ruminating out loud.

I think for the most part the machines in which we drive today are in general the best we have seen. I like outside the box thinking as well but these companies are not going to go through expensive retooling to change something just to note, they made a change.

It seems to me that in all racing there are no real gigantic steps forward, only baby steps that at some point in time equate to huge leap. A world winning platform changes very little from year to year. Look at Kyosho they have had the same basic platform for 20 years and they still win races. that is what they want, race wins, not necessarily innovation.

Sure, makes sense - if it works, why change it? And if racing is the name of the game, stick with what wins races. I've sold off my 1/8 buggies, guess i am looking for a cool basher and not a racer.

Then again, outside the box thinking led to the Revo, and that made quite a difference in the MT classes. Took them over pretty much.
