Hey, for a crawler body, how do you make it look aged and rusty?

If i'm not mistaken I think that hobby lobby and places like that actually sell a paint made to look like rust but I'm not sure. Good luck on the body.

When I reviewed the Tamiya Hilux Hi-lift I puts dents in it, rusted the body, and faded the paint...

BTW, that's real rust on the body. It's a two part system. The first layer is a paint that contains iron. Once that is applied you have to apply a rusting agent.

where can I find a rustiing agent. And how did you dent it if it's plastic? Oh and by the way how fast does the hilux go? I dont think u mentioned it in the article

Michael's craft store is where I got the rust kit. It comes with the iron paint and rusting agent.

How do you dent plastic? Very carefully. I used a heat gun to soften the plastic in the areas I dented.

one more question, sorry how did you make the windows foggy and the wheels dirty?

Airbrush.

I outlined the basic procedure in the Hilux review.

I published this awhile ago and was a twist on the same idea. I shot a regular paint scheme inside of a clear Parma Camaro and then painted the exterior overspray film with the 2-part glop I bought at Michaels Arts & Crafts...I brushed on the iron surfacer from Sophisticated Finishes plus a little of the green inside color. Then hit the places I wanted to weather (wheel wells, etc) with the rusting agent in the kit. The idea was creating an instant makeover. From rust bucket abandoned in field to instant muscle car. I was pleased with the results and its easy to do.

Here is somthing that I did last winter. It wasn't painted on the outside as the body was made to be raced.
