This is the truck I beat up and test modifications on. It's looking in good shape because I've hardly been running it since putting on this body, I've been building scalers. I got the body with another TXT I bought last year and it was already that orange color. The paint job was terrible and I tried to fix it up and recently made the "KING KONG" stickers. It's not supposed to look like any of Jeff Dane's King Kong trucks from the past but rather what a modern version might look like, plus it was the only all orange monster I could think of.:D Anyway here's the specs:

Tamiya TXT-1, bearings throughout
Emaxx 2-speed transmission w/ 2060 servo for shifting
Traxxas EVX 14.4V
Dual battery packs
Monster GT shocks, had Integy piggybacks but used them for another project
HD canti rods and steering arms
Front steering only w/ custom servo mount
TQ3 radio and receiver

The setup is reversed from stock with batteries up front and elecs in back. I removed the stock body mounts and used tlt ones to lower the body. I also shortened the canti rods and I modded the shock mounts so the shocks use the inside holes, all to lower the supspension. I also shaved the front tires and mounted a savage front bumper.

Old body off shots, some minor changes since but still pretty much the same. but I do run deans connectors now.;)

Very nice! Always wanted one, but heard many bad stories about those center shafts breaking. I see that your using the Traxxas shafts, are they better than the stock TXT shafts? Anyways, your TXT is looking great!

Thanks guys. Mad Racer, the stock TXT driveshafts are a weak point. It's one of the first things I tell people to change out along with adding an esc.

Metal driveshafts like the stock ones, and even RC4WD punisher shafts, don't do well on these. I think it's because under high speed/high torque applications the steel doesn't have that molecule of "give" like delrin plastic does.

You're right, in the bottom(body off) pics I'm running cut Revo axles as driveshafts. But I've changed the axles out on this truck and am running Jugg spec axles I got from my super class crawler, those are what you see in the top pics. They have 5mm inputs instead of the TXT 6mm inpts so I'm runnin adapters which enabled me to use actual Revo driveshafts instead of cut down axles. I used them cause I have a few yokeless sets just sitting around.

Yeah, very true. Many TXT owners have Traxxas shafts on them now.

Yup they are clod/txt (they are the same) but the ones on the front are shaved at an angle from the back. Real monster trucks shave their tires in all sorts of ways nowdays but this style was, and still is, popular. I was going to shave all 4 but got tired so I stopped after 2. It takes a few hours per tire to do it.

It's stock emaxx titans but I have permax 600s to replace them when they go. I'm also going to gear down significantly so I have a more usable high gear.

any updates?

Nothing going on with this truck lately, I've been working on a F-350 dually scaler. This truck was actually a test bed for a pair of TXT Bigfoots I am going to build. One will have a Chromolusion body the other the American Flag body. I've finally given in to making tube chassis' for them now I just have to get the time to do it.

There isn't much to look at on the dually right now. The chassis will be a highlift (although with aluminum frame rails) that I have to extend. It's an extended cab so I want to see if I can fit the mfu in the back of the cab and still run an interior in the front. The wheels will eventually be RC4WD Double Trouble 1.9 dually rims and tires are TBD. I already have some turned down tlt shocksfor it(2 per corner). Here's a pic of the body, I still have to drop the bed and do some finishing bodywork.

I still have to determine what type of trailer to make. Not sure if I want to amke a conventional ball/hitch type or gooseneck/fifthwheel. I have a 1/6 CXT hauler built by Juggster over on RCC that has a gooseneck system I can copy but I'm not sure if I want to do that to the bed.

The truck for the trailer will be based off of this body I made from a Clod body I got that had the cab chopped convertible style. I made it a T-top like one I saw in a magazine that a guy made out of a 1:1 Blazer.

The Bigfoot projects are on hold for a while. I had just about collected everything for them for the stock TXT chassis but since I'm going to make the tube chassis I have to rework the plan. Probably won't think about it till next year.
