I call this project speed! i hear these things go in the high 20's with a stock motor, so i picked one up for some parking lot fun. i can see why, it's super light. i dressed it up with a HPI honda s2000 body and some HPI wheels, and the chassis is stock for now except for the oil shock. i want to see how it runs with the stock motor before deciding what kind of power to drop in here.
I just wish it was a bit wider, i don't know why tamiya makes all its kits about 180mm or so. Some higher offset rims will help.

no updates yet, hoping to get down to the local park - they just repaved the parking lot and it's smooth as glass. Perfect for this car. I'm taking 3 on roaders and a bunch of battery packs - hopefully later today!
i finally broke down and got a new battery (though my old Nicads are still kicking, it was time for some upgrades) This is a trinity reference 3600 nimh.

Very nice! Had one until I let my buddy drive it - it's now a parts car (too expensive to fix). Mine ran best with a Trinity Cobalt 27 and foam tires - the foams seemed to give the best grip. Not giving up on it, though - am waiting for the F103 RM to be released - an F103 GT with an open wheel body. Found some pretty cool pics at www.tamiya.ca (Tamiya Canada). This is also a great resource for manuals - they are listed under (I believe) "RC Guides," by model, in PDF format for viewing and download.

One other thing before I forget - it wouldn't hurt to run a bead of CA glue around the chassis, since it's that fiber type.

i am looking forward to running it, i got rained out again this weekend (this must be the wettest summer ever) I haven't seen pics of the RM yet, but i had a F-103 that i never even ran ( i think they are probably the same thing)
I didn't like the foam tire set-up, and till i got around to it they had cracked up. Having this one with 12mm hubs is a whole 'nother story!

Yeah - they are really similar - almost kind of a re-release of the original F103. I got rained out too this weekend, so I feel your pain! And, it's continuing today! There's always tomorrow...

Got a chance to go run - not too bad with the stock motor, but hits every single rock/stone/pebble/gum wrapper in the parking lot. You really need a smooth place to run this car. Other than that though, really fun car.
On a side note, I ran my TLO1 rally while I was out there with an SS5800 system the the new sticky tires from the F103 and completely destroyed the driveline before I got through 1 battery pack. Broke the carbon propshaft again, second one to let go. I broke the first one offroad, but though it would hold up on-road. A couple of powerslides later and it was toast. Front one way is making a bad clicking sound, and the front driveshaft disintegrated and took out the inside of the C-hub. Too much motor for this car for sure, I'll be swapping it out.
a fun day in the parking lot!
