Just finished this one up, and got to do some running with it today. I'm still waiting on a mod motor and a couple other things for it. Tomorrow I'll start painting the body for it. Mods so far are aluminum upper and lower front arms, aluminum rear arms, CF F/R shock towers, aluminum threaded shocks, front CVD's, aluminum steering rack, aluminum front chassis brace, IB 1400 saddle pack, 3Racing spur and slip gears, Atomic slipper pads, Atomic hard slipper spring set, 3Racing motor heatsink, and Pro-Line Velocity wheels, with Pro-Line Crime Fighter tires.

I forgot to mention, that I also changed the plugs over to Deans. Here's a quick vid of it running with it's current setup. http://s225.photobucket.com/albums/dd78/fast-max/KMI/?action=view¤t=inferno027.flv

Nice pics and vid. One question do u have any travel in the front? Seems that the springs are fully compressed.

There is travel up front, though not a whole lot. The shocks have ride height limiters in them right now, because most of the time it gets run on pavement. Thanks for the compliments guys.

LOL it's being set up to run off road now. I was just in too big a hurry to give it a try to change the shock settings before taking it out for a spin. It was previously set up with street tires which is why the shocks are set the way they are. They will have the limiters removed this evening and will be adjusted to more of an off road setting. Although the current set up would probably rock, on a smooth dirt or rally type track.

Ok I got the suspension adjusted, but I'm not sure my choice of shock piston is gonna work. I'll give it a go in a bit, and if it's still a little too stiff I'll switch the pistons again. New vid coming shortly.

Well they've been around for a while that's for sure, but so have 99% of the current minis available. Does that mean we should stop posting our mini projects? Also this buggy is far from stock. The only things left on it that are stock is the chassis plate, and the elecs. and those will be getting changed soon.

Is the vid coming today? Also I agree that custom mini and micros are awsome! I love this little buggy that u have! I really love 100% customized micro-t's look so kool!:D

Yeah I'm sure you can tell that I'm a big fan of minis. I have quite a few of them. I'm waiting for the rain to stop right now, and then I will get a vid for you guys.;)

Here's a couple pics with the newly painted body mounted up. The rain has stopped, now I just need it to dry up a little, and I'll get it out for a run.

It's been sunny and nice so far today, so I got the buggy up to the dirt lot for another pack. The suspension is still a little stiff for such a rough area, and there are a lot of rocks that are nearly half the size of my tires so it's still bouncing around a bit, but I think the settings are right in the ball park for the indoor dirt track that this will be getting run on most of the time. It is smooth hard packed clay, and if I go any softer I'm afraid I'll be bottoming out too much on most of the jumps. Here's another vid, and a couple action shots. Sorry they're not the best, but I was the driver and the camera man so... http://s225.photobucket.com/albums/dd78/fast-max/KMI/?action=view¤t=inferno039.flv

Dude that thing sick! Yea like u said a little rough for minis. But a smooth well taken care of off-road track would be awsome. Have u clocked it yet? How fast is it? Looks like it rips!

Yeah I have seen quite a few guys try and clear that whole section and end up with broken parts. There are a couple local fast guys that can make it almost every time though.

Here's a couple more action shots from earlier this week. I'll get more, and another vid once the new motor is installed.

looks like most of the power is focused to the front wheels
fastmax
08-22-2008, 11:07 AM
It pretty much is. I'm running a bevel gear center diff with light grease in those pics. When my new motor arrives I'll be dropping a center ball diff in it and tightening it up so power is more evenly distributed front to rear.
tormentor3211
08-22-2008, 04:10 PM
oh, that makes more sense now

It will be in my mailbox on tuesday, and by wednesday I should have a new vid to post.
tormentor3211
08-23-2008, 03:38 PM
because of the uneven power between the wheels, does it under steer or oversteer?
LSXEric
08-23-2008, 10:51 PM
Well "balloning" causes push coners, so means understeer tormentor.
fastmax
08-24-2008, 02:21 PM
It pushes or understeers a little when on the throttle with its current setup, but not too bad. It will be much better with the center ball diff installed.

http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-3300-74-Saddle.htm
Hey mouse I'd say that 8 cell pack is better. 9.6 volt over a 7.4 lipo.
fastmax
09-06-2008, 08:57 PM
I will be getting one of those lipos for it very soon. The nice thing about running lipo over the 8 cell is the weight savings. A 7.4v lipo performs almost equally to a 9.6v nimh battery. The song is Rob Zombie Dragula. I'm not sure how fast the car is, but it's quick as you can see from the vid. It is significantly faster now because I have installed a 21T ball bearing mod motor, and am running an 8 cell pack. I'll post a vid of that here shortly.
fastmax
09-06-2008, 09:02 PM
Ok here's a short vid of the new mod motor on 8 cells. I put some 1/10 touring tires on for it's first run with this setup so I could get a feel for how fast it was gonna be before hitting the dirt.

Power to weight man power to weight. Lipos automatically produce more power than nimh, then you cut weight by 20% and you're looking at a better performing vehicle. I am running new IB 1400 cells, and new Elite 1500 cells. Not garbage by any means. Have you ever run lipos? If you don't believe that a 7.4v lipo will perform as well as a 9.6v nimh then check this out. http://www.castlecreations.com/support/documents/Mamba%20Setups.pdf In every category the speeds they quote are the same for 2s lipo or 8 cell nimh.;)
