Started on a project. I'm going to try and find middle ground between the stock Slash and its crazy sibling(brushless). I started with fabbing a esc mount and installed a Reedy 19t Challenger motor. Big bore shocks(F&R), front sway bar kit, metal brush guard cover(F) and new Proline body on order. I'll post again when somethings new. John

I found the swaybar and brushguard at www.neweramodels.com. I was pleasantly surprised when I got them. Fit and finish are very nice.

Little update, she's still under construction. We added a few bits. Pro Level aluminum shocks and associated springs and keepers(2.95 spring rate)red, 60 weight oil on the rear. Upgraded the camber links front and rear. New set of shoes, RPM Revolver wheels with HPI Dirt bonz tires. Waiting on toe links and front shocks. Seems I'm always waiting on parts:(

I was wondering If RPM a-arms that are made for the rustler or stampede would fit on the slash? You would get better durability and they are less heavy than the stock Traxxas arms.

the a-arms for the ruslter and stampede will fit they are the same. so yeah i would do that up grade for it. looking sweet. i need to buy one soon.

Yes, we're trying to make it alittle more durable. More speed more air more chassis slap:eek:

Okay. Got the RPM rear arms, Traxxas toe links and aluminum front shocks today. Right off the bat I notice the arms are at least a 1/4" longer than stock, needless to say that causes clearance problems(don't want to pound that new body just yet). You can either run ridiculious negative camber or hack up the body. I think I'm going to put some limiters on the rear shocks. Hopefully me being the test dummy will help you guys not spend unneeded money. So I will experiment alittle bit and let you know how it goes. Off to the hobby shop to get some losi springs. Later.

Slashman
08-28-2008, 03:38 PM
I didn't want to lose the shock travel and I'm not really following any guidelines, so I sacrificed the body. I also added a functional fan. What do you think? More updates to come.

rcjwp
08-28-2008, 03:56 PM
Nice! I realy like how you opened up a hole in the body so that you can see the fan. I might have to do that with my brushless revo.:D

Just did a few more mods. I replaced the front lower reinforcement and bellcrank posts with aluminum. Added bellcrank bearings courtesy of RCbearings.co.uk. The steering is now very smooth and responsive. Last but not least, I added Billet Aluminum Axle Retaining Rings on the outboard side of the driveshafts. More updates to come:D

How do you plan on keeping your aluminum front bumper and lower chassis reinforment pieces that have no gusseting from bending?
I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Thanks:)

Well I add a few pieces than run it. Its kinda like an ongoing experiment:eek: LOL. I'm thinking of aluminum for the inboard side of the drive axles and possibly the hubs. I'll keep you posted and its far from over:D I'm really enjoying this project:D:D

I would put on aluminum steering blocks, but that is just my opinion. But like you said you add somthing than you run it to see what else could use improving.

No I don't, but there are RPM front arms on the way:D, and yes they are meant to bash, but when I'm racing it I want to keep bashing until the race is over;)

Slashman

Good luck, but I don't see how your front suspension support won't end up bent like a pretzel without any gusseting -- oh, and aluminum bumpers are illegal for "racing." ;)
Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware of that. Is that ROAR ? The race is at a local indoor track and if the bumpers a problem I'll take it off. I'll post after race pictures tomorrow.
